Hi, what's the best way to set up sonos with a synology disk station NAS? I currently have my music ripped into iTunes on an iMac but would prefer to have the library on the NAS connected to the router. Do I just move the itunes library to the NAS or is it best to have a separate copy of the music files? Thanks.
Hi All I know theres alot of chat about direct access via the bbc sounds app. I have a samsung tv connected to my sonos system using the optic cable. I play the app on my samsung pad and then mirror the pad on the tv which then plays BBC sounds through the sonos system. It works Pretty poor that for such an expensive sound system that we have to go around the houses to just get a sound out of it, when it is so easy to do on a cheap alternitive system that can be had for half the price. If BBC doesn't want to join with sonos then there must be a big reason for this that sonos aren't letting on about ie money/security/
Have had my Sonos for a couple of years. Just updated Sonos recently and now the tab that let me browse my music in my phone is gone. It worked previously and iPhone setting are set to allow access. A little help would be appreciated. Hello, I am considering buying Sonos speakers (like Play 1 pair and sub) and one of the main uses will be to play Spotify. I am wondering about the sound quality over sonos speakers. I currently have a decades old home stereo that sounds decent enough with cds, but sounds not so very decent playing spotify, and even though spotify is set to the highest bitrate (I'm playing it directly wired to the "aux in" over a high quality cable from my iphone). I'm no audiophile, but am guessing that this may have less to do with something wrong with Spotify and more something to do with mixing new and old (and not so great) technology. So what I'm wondering is the sound quality users are getting out of Spotify Premium over Sonos speakers. Also what app are you using (i.e.: Spotify Connect or Sonos)? I read somewhere on this board that Spotify Connect was limited to a low bitrate, but I'm assuming this problem has been fixed.
I like the look of the new Beam, and await reviews. Pleae advise, is it is available without Alexa built in? If so, I will get one, or two. If not, I will look elsewhere. This applies to to any speaker with built-in Alexa, or any other eavesdropping intrusive technology.
Spotify, I recently had an email that stated that Spotify is now free to my mobile apps, and sure enough Spotify works on my Ipad. If I connect my Ipad to the Line in of my Play5 I can now play any track from Spotify, around my network. So why can I not configure Spotify on my Sonos without having to have a Premium Account now?. Is this something that is likely to be available soon? Thanks
Hi! Is there some way of changing the DNS adress of the Sonos system... I am not looking for a generel change in my computer-setup.. Just that Sonos goes thru a different DNS to be able to listen to radio-stations that is not possible because of the current listen-location is not supported. Any good tricks or is Sonos maybe planning a way of changing the DNS thru the software??
I am resorting to downloading BBC iplayer content onto my iPhone and listening to it in the car!!! This is not what I had in mind when I bought my first Sonos speaker. Unless Sonos get this issue sorted, I won't be buying any more Sonos pieces for my house. Very disappointed. Am I missing something?
I have just bought my first bit of SONOS equipment (Play:3). Overall impressed with sound quality (once I toned down the bass on the EQ) but the controller software (mac and android), oh my, oh my. It really is terrible - I'lll post some more on that later. Anyway - you seem to support some really rather obscure music services - at least ones I have never heard of - yet you do not support on-demand streams from the BBC iPlayer Radio. I was surprised by this, some shows are available via Tune In Radio - granted, but these seem to be rather out-of-date. I was wondering how many customers you have in the UK? And if you think they deserve to have support to the iPlayer Radio?
We want to play white noise or brown noise through our Sonos while we sleep. Is there a streaming music service that will not time-out after a few hours? We have tried putting a white noise "playlist" on repeat, but there is still a short break in the "music/noise" and we wake up during the silence. Any suggestions for how others use Sonos to stream uninterrupted white noise in their office or bedroom? Thanks for any help!
Hi! After scrolling through a lot of topics on here I see that a lot of people have been having connectivity issues with Apple music. I’ve tried some of the fixes but none have worked for me.Since ‘upgrading’ to the S2 app my amazing Sonos experience has went from 100 to 0, I now can not play any music from Apple music, every time I try I just keep on getting the 701 or 1001 error code. I have rebooted all devices and router - no change, I have re-installed the app on all of my iOS devices - no change, I have factory reset all of my Sonos devices and then re-installed - no change.I also have my Play 5 (1st gen) on the S1 app, this also does not play Apple music.Ideally I’d like all of my speakers on the same app so I could go back to having the amazing experience I had before the S1 and S2 app ‘upgrades’.I have recently added amazon music which works fine on my Sonos setup, Sonos radio also works fine. Only Apple music doesn’t work which is where all of my playlists are.Has anyone h
I know this question has been asked (but apparently not answered) previously, but I thought I’d try again. When listening to music directly through Apple Music on my Sonos speakers (via Airplay), I definitely notice improved quality with the new “lossless” quality offered by Apple. My ears, however, seem to think that the quality isn’t as high-fidelity when I listen to the same music via the S2 app (which, of course, is pulling the same music from my Apple Music subscription). However, I’m willing to admit that this perceived difference in quality may be psycho-somatic (since I’m still confused as to whether the S2 app is capable of accessing lossless files when it queries the Apple Music database).Any chance either Apple or Sonos have provided an authoritative answer to this question? I.e. when S2 streams a file from Apple Music, is Apple giving them access to the lossless files? Or is Apple reserving those files for customers who are using the Apple Music interface? (For what it’s wor
Is it possible to play an app through Sonos? For example, the white noise app, which is on my iPhone and is not integrated into the sonos player. I would like to do this wirelessly, not using the line-in method. I saw a quick note when updating the sonos system that now any sound on an iPhone can be played but can’t figure out how to make this happen.
I can't get any of my apple products to connect using Airplay to my brand new Sonos One gen 2 stereo paired speakers. I've tried all the basic instructions out there. Airplay will never connect to the speakers. The reason I am attempting this is because I want to have the audio from apps like youtube and netflix play through the speakers. Apparently, the only way to do this is through Airplay. I'm up to date on the newest MacOS and the newest IOS. The speakers just won't connect to Airplay. What's up? Thanks in advance for any help!
I have been using a MacBook to create Apple Lossless on a NAS for SONOS and my PC to create MP3s for various Ipods and Car systems. I want to start using Media Monkey to create FLAC on the NAS while continuing with ITunes for MP3 I have Ripped every CD twice and do this with each new CD producing two libraries. Is there a more efficient way to use one PC to create two libraries one for NAS and one for Ipods?
