When listening to tunein radio stations (several, not limited to a specific one), sometimes and varying intervals, playback is stopped and does not resume unless I press the play button on either remote. Media stored on our NAS plays fine and without hiccups. Anything I can do to have Sonos resume once connection has been lost? Quite annoying...
When watching movies via Apple TV 4K, be it Netflix or iTunes movies, I get no audio through my 5.1 setup unless I have 'stereo' selected in the Apple TV's audio menu. DTS and "best available" either don't work or merely give me background audio. My tv is the LG OLED B7 and while watching Netflix using the native app, sound works just fine. As do gaming consoles. So why is it that audio coming from the Apple TV can only be in stereo?
Pretty much every man and his dog that launches a network streaming device (amp, speaker, link...) is supporting Spotify Connect. Others have also issued firmware updates to make devices compatible that previously were not (e.g. Bose Soundlink) Im a massive fan of Spotify and, as one of the biggest music streaming services, I still cant fathom why Sonos wont support it. The spotify integration in the native sonos app is pretty poor. There are countless complains at 'ask sonos' about lack of Radio, Your Music and other features. Spotify provide the perfect vehicle to allow them to solve all these requests and complaints in one go. They cant argue that they want to keep control entirely within Sonos as they've already provided support in Google Play (android only) and QQ in china. Their 'official reply' on the main request to support Connect is totall
Hi, I've recently had an issue with my SONOS Play:1. I've had it a few years now, always keep it up to date etc. But recently I noticed when I put a playlist on, the first few songs were missing. I checked on the app and sure enough, not all the songs were there. On the artwork for the playlist the artists were there, but when you went into the playlist they weren't there. They had been previously. Also, I have recently downloaded some new music and again, some of the songs appear but some don't. What am I doing wrong? I am looking at the "on the iPhone" section, where all my playlists are. Any help would be massively appreciated because I'm getting close to just selling it. It worked fine when I first had it and recently it disconnects and skips constantly, and now doesn't find all my music. Its really frustrating.
There appear to be several questions in the forum related to multiple libraries and multiple user functionality for Sonos. Most are currently marked as answered through work arounds or explanations on why this functionality is not currently available. I would like to put forward this topic as an idea so it can be up voted and tracked. Sonos is a brilliant system, however in homes with multiple listeners who wish to maintain separate music libraries and services there is no specific functionality. Viewing by folder is not an option for people who carefully manage their music library through valid metadata and other methods to ensure proper music organisation which is broken by folder based viewing. If multiple libraries were added then then when browsing music 'Music Library' could be replaced by one or more named libraries (which in turn would collect potentially a number of shares). Multiple users with separate music service accounts, libraries and permitted zones would be the idea
A podcast I have listened to on Stitcher via Sonos for some time has just moved to be on Spotify only. Now searching via Sonos app for this does not find the podcast. When I search in Spotify app, it is there and I can play on my iPhone but when I try to switch playback to Sonos device, get error message for all Sonos devices “can’t play this right now”. This seems to affect only podcasts rather than playlist or artist searches. Am I correct in assuming that Spotify podcasts can be played via Sonos ? This seems odd if true. Any ideas welcome. Thanks
I'm getting this message intermittently. I've cleared ALL other users/devices, other than my own iPhone, from my Amazon account. But still get message. Interestingly, Sonos didn't show as a 'device' in the Amazon music list of 'authorised devices' but still plays, most of the time. Anybody else having this problem or know what I've done wrong or what the problem is?
Spatial Audio/Dolby Atmos music is now available on Apple Music through the Apple TV 4K. It’s exciting to see more streaming services adopt these higher resolution audio formats. To play Atmos music through the Arc, be sure to have a TV with HDMI eARC or an HDFury Arcana and tvOS 14.6 installed. On the Apple TV 4K (1st Gen) model, go to Settings > Apps > Music and set Dolby Atmos to Automatic and Audio Quality to Lossless.Enjoy!
Hi I'm planning to get a sonos system soon, but there is one minor issue that I have and that is FM radio. I know that there have been threads here in the past on this topic, but I'm really interested to know how easy, or not, it is to use sonos as an everyday kitchen radio. I would like to just turn on the radio with one click, as I do with my current 15 year old version, without having to get my iphone and go through lots of clicks to achieve the same end. How convenient is it to use sonos in this way? Thx
I am looking for a solution to this problem. I use a VPN for security reasons and I am unable to use my VPN with my SONOS Play (1) When I initiate my VPN the netork traffic from the VPN is not being channeled to the SONOS Play (1 ) device. I am assuming that the PLAY(1) is a self-contained networking device that does not support VPN ??
When will SONOS be inter-operable with Chrome Cast and Google Home? I am not interested in expanding my SONOS or recommending it to other until I can use SONOS as a "cast" destination in Android/Chrome. The solution of buying another expensive piece of hardware (SONOS) to interface with yet another piece of hardware (Google) is NOT a solution - it's the kind of clunky thing I bought SONOS to avoid. Additionally, I want to be able to say "Okay Google, play Tom Petty in Living Room" and have it search my music library and create a playlist of matching tracks (in this case, artist contains Tom Petty) and play it.
My Bridge only lets me play songs on my phone or Mac. When playing Pandora, I get the message Unable to play, connection to Pandora was lost. With radio, i get "Unable to play Radio station". All this stuff was working yesterday. Tried resetting controller, resetting Sonos, resetting router, all to no avail. Someone please help! thanks in advance
Recently connected a Sonos connect to a higher class hifi equipment. We tried Spotify Premium and were kind of disappointed with sound quality. Its not that some compression artifacts are audible but it sounds rather dull, as if somebody lowered mids. Not very clear sound. Some songs had also distortion on bass, like if somebody recorded it with too high volume. To outrule hardware influences, a CD was converted to flac and i couldnt find any real difference between CD and the flac on Sonos. Maybe 1% but Spotify against CD was much much higher. As it was already clear to me that hardware makes no real difference todays in such price class, except speakers itself have much more influence but they were not changed. The only thing left could be hidden Equalizer settings. Is the sound quality really so bad with Spotify? The Sonos Connect was connected over WIFI . I cannot imagine that it would be too slow for 2 channel compressed audio. Unfortunately i cannot compare Spotify on
So, so sorry to bring up the BBC Radio topic again, but I'm not sure my problem is answered elsewhere. When BBC updated, I followed the instructions on this forum and everything for a few months has been working swimmingly until yesterday. Now the BBC channels cut out, jump back, speed up or just don't play. My partner predominantly listens to Radio 2 and she is getting a bit miffed. Any suggestions? Is the feed from TuneIn faulty or has my system gone a bit awry? Other radio stations are playing fine, as is my streaming from other sources. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Johnny
As Sonos don’t seem to want to, lets try and consolidate the TuneIn UK problem into one master thread. What we know: starting last Thursday, TuneIn in the UK started blocking all foreign radio stations. They did this because of a lawsuit they lost in November 2019.Some have also claimed that Sonos Radio is also affected. The known work-arounds are:Add the direct streaming url of the station to the Sonos system (only available to PC and Mac users detailed here Try a different radio station aggregator (eg radio.com)
I know airplay speakers maximum streaming capacity is 16 Bit, 44.1 KHz, is it the same with Sonos products? I'm asking because I have some cd's ripped at 24bit 96 Khz that I would like to listen to without it being downsampled... I think the answer will be same as airplay but thanks for any hints..
Just got the intro bundle, and I am impressed. I did a search and did not find this suggested, but I would save Zone links as favorites. With only 2 ZPs it is not a problem yet, but when I add more it maybe. I would like to setup say Morning mode for the units I want in the morning and a preset volume between the units. Another example I would have 2 party modes, Summer and Winter. The Summer mode would include the deck speakers and the Winter mode would not. Also it would be nice to have playlists or radio station associated with each mode. So when I get up I press Morning the DI Chill radio station plays. Jeff
Is anyone else upset that Sonos is pulling the plug "in the coming months" on IOS library access?? That's why I bought the Sonos System in 2012 in the first place. Now I'll have to use streaming services or keep my MacBook up and running to access my Sonos library in my home. More importantly, I bought the Sonos system to be able to take my music with me to my friends homes and interface with their Sonos systems. Poof, that will no longer work. In response to IOS problems of late, Sonos thinks the solution is just to eliminate that functionality. Come on Sonos, our music libraries are mobile and you need to support them!!
Hi everyone, Did somebody managed to stream the audio from a windows 10 PC to Sonos via Airplay? I was very excited with the AP2 update as I've been hoping that it will allow me to stream the audio from my PC straight to my Sonos speakers. Till now I've been using SWYH, but it introduces a 2-3 seconds delay, which is too much if you want to watch Youtube or some other video content. So, I've tried several solutions to make Airplay work with my windows 10 PC: - iTunes works perfectly on win10, which is cool, but only if you want to listen to music - Airfoil seemed to be the solution I was looking for, but it asks a password when I try to connect it with Sonos - TuneBlade could be another solution, it recognizes the speakers, but doesn't connect to them at all If you have find a solution, your help will be very welcomed! Kind regards.
Sonos is essentially wireless yeah? Then how do I play movies via my laptop and wirelessly have the movie audio playing out of 2x sonos 5. I would prefer to have it not connected via the line-in. The only work around I can find is Laptop to TV via HDMI and Laptop to Sonos 5 via headphone cable. But in using the headphone cable I get interference when listening to the speakers. Plus I paid a lot of money for my setup and I would expect you can play movies via an application such as vlan on you laptop and have it come out of your speakers?
