I work in a gym that has a Sonos system and that means that my playlists that I would like to keep private from other trainers appear to be visible to them because they are on the same network. From my reading on the subject, there doesn’t appear to be a lot I can do about this but I would like to understand what others can see and for how long i.e. after I disconnect from the network after I leave the gym, is it possible that other trainers can still see and access my Spotify playlists (I know that I have been able to see some of someone else once when I connected to the system but my Spotify was set to offline but I just exited out straightaway, changed it to online, as others choice in music doesn’t interest me)? Also, what can the trainer that follows on directly from my session see when they connect (my music still playing)?
I love Sonos. Only one downside: I seem to listen to a narrower range of music. The list of albums and artists in my home library is SO LONG that it’s hard to search easily by composer or artist the way I would scan through CDs on my shelf (Which was organized by genre and sometimes by instrument). So I now default to obvious choices rather than being reminded of stuff I’m not thinking of. Possible solution: new naming and tagging conventions In my personal library. For some genres it’s not that big a deal. But with classical—and sometimes jazz—both the composer and the performer are important sort criteria. And for all genres, collaborations with more than one artist are presented by Sonos not under either “Performer A” or “Performer B”, but instead under a unique “Performer A and Performer B” tag. The two most important issues are: 1. Composer vs. Performer - I’d like to be able to search by Genre/Composer *or by* Genre/Artist. (In a perfect world I’d be able to do a Genre/Instrumen
I have a Plex server set up and due to the limitations in Sonos’ SMB implementation I let Plex manage the tracks and Sonos accesses the Plex server. However, recently playback was not possible, the only error that pops up is e.g. Thursday, December 12, 2019 - 10:18 AM Amsterdam, Berlin, Bern, RomeUnable to play 'Young Ned Of The Hill' - unable to connect to Plex. I can browse without problems and have also tried removing and re-authorizing the Plex account. The Plex server is remotely accessible as I use this feature regularly. Is there some more detailed error log that I can look at? In Plex’ server log there is nothing about an attempt to play music. Thanks in advance!
Recently, my Sonos one will not respond to voice controls to stream music via amazon music or Spotify. When I first purchased the unit, everything worked great. Has something changed to prevent this from working. I can stream via my phone and will play Spotify but will not play amazon music. Please help.
It seems to be a recurring phenomenon, and now I just started getting the message “connection to Tidal lost” when trying to playback tracks from Tidal. The problem correlates with my Tidal subscription being stopped as my payment card expired. I updated with the new card, and playback in the Tidal app works fine now. But not from Sonos. Using the Sonos Windows controller I’ve tried to Reauthorize Tidal as well as removing and reconnecting to my Tidal account, but with no success. I’m not sure what’s going on, so I sent you a diagnostics report: 1392569545. Hope you’ll manage to figure this one out, and please let me know if the problem is on the Tidal end of the line....
Using SiriusXM app on an iPhone, iPad or iMac, a listener can go ‘backwards’ 3 to 4 hours to enjoy prior content. For instance, on MetOpera Channel 75 on an iPad, one can listen to a previous opera even though you just signed on and have not played anything yet. Same procedure on Brand ‘G’ internet radio - one can choose one of 3 prior operas and play it from the beginning ( feature is called “Start Now”). I know that I can use my iPad with SiriusXM app and then AirPlay to my Sonos Port so that I can listen to prior content from the SiriusXM server. I would, however, prefer to just use the Sonos app to do this directly. Am I missing how to do this on the Sonos app or is this feature not available? If not available, please add this function. Thanks.
I need recommendations for music management and cd ripping software. I currently use Windows Media Player but am concerned because it's not being kept up to date and album art and track listings can be iffy nowadays. I really just need something that will replace it. I have a medium sized collection (40K files) that I burn from CD's onto an NAS for Sonos purposes. I burn them in FLAC and mp3 and am happy with WMP but don't want to be blindsided by Windows removing it at some point in time. Any recommendations? I'd like one that starts with a free trial. (Oh… and it needs to run on a PC and not be iTunes.)
My Mac Mini is wired to the router and the Sonos Playbar is using the wifi network. The app finds my playlist from the mini’s iTunes library and plays the music through the playbar. Until about 30 seconds remaining in each song and drops the music. The time line for the song continues in the app. At about 19 seconds, the music resumes. The next song plays seamlessly. Any help appreciated.
JOhn
Anyone else hoping that this will result in being able to control NAS based libraries via voice? One thing that annoys me more than anything is using voice with Alexa to play from Spotify but always needing to manually select music when using my local library on my Synology DiskStation. Come on Sonos, make it so! :)
