I have downloaded an MP3 audio file -- and would like to play it through my Sonos setup. ie, Laptop to Play5. In desperation I converted the MP3 file to WAV, hoping it would drag from WinExp onto Sonos Queue. Neither MP3 nor WAV will "drop." onto Sonos queue. :o The MP3 file weighs in at 24.6 MB BUT the WAV files weighs in at a mind boggling 295 MB. I used "MP3Decoder" How can I play my downloads on my Sonos speakers ? :) ----- Play5 x2 PlayBar x1 Sonos Bridge Toshiba Laptop (with Sonos software) Toshiba Tab2 10 (with Sonos software)
Hello, I've just invested in a QNAP TS-412 and am trying to get SONOS to stream music direct from the server instead of relying on the PC as the source... but SONOS doesn't find the QNAP server when trying an automatic network scan, and when entering the directory manually, it always states I don't have user permission to access the drive (even though no usernames are set). I've tried putting in the local admin username and password as well - still no joy. I loaded the QPKG version of TwonkyServer via the app service on the server, and can see the SONOS devices are seen by TwonkyServer. I try to access the QNAP server via the SONOS controller (via my iphone or PC) using the link //192.168.0.1/Multimedia/MUSIC... (MUSIC folder I set-up with all my MP3 tunes in) but it always states I have no access, user denied. Is this a known compatibility issue or is there a setting I'm missing? Any help greatly appreciated as this is driving me mad!! Thanks in advance Phil
I love listening to audible audio books throughout my house on Sonos. I have been disappointed to find out that there is no way to bookmark my spot. If I lose my place (such as switch to listening to music) I have a difficult time finding the spot I left off in the book. The Audible app for iphone/ipad does have a bookmark feature. I've seen in other threads that this topic has been discussed for years (since 2006). When is Sonos going to add this feature? I'm no programmer, but I can't imagine this would take a herculean effort to incorporate
There is a known problem: Sonos doesn't support audiobooks. When you play an audiobook (8 - 14 hours in duration), you invariably want to stop and come back later. Sonos, however, treats audiobooks as songs and wants to re-start them each time. It's virtually impossible to find your place in a multi-hour track, so unless you want to dedicate one "room" to your audiobook and pause as a way to keep your place, the Sonos software is useless for audiobooks. As confirmed music purists, this no doubt makes sense to you. But audiobooks are becoming huge, and there are millions of "baby boomers" that would be willing to buy Sonos to listen to them. Tell your developers to figure out how iTunes is able to remember the place you stopped playing and resume from there. It would probably create a large demand from the geriatric set, people whose ears don't work anymore but finally have a few bucks.
What are your plans to introduce full (not using Airport Express) Airplay support on your speakers? I want to use Airplay directly to play audio on a Sonos system that has been recorded using eyeTV. Buying an Airport Express for each speaker is unacceptable to me. Thanks, Ben
Whats the best way to add a microphone to the sonos system that is loud enough for a major event? We use the sonos system for our business and love it but we would love to be able to use it during an up coming event we are having. What Do you suggest for plugging in a microphone of some sort and how would you suggest connecting everything? Being a large event and facility,we need it to be as loud as our music which is amazingly loud.
Dkfm lite, which is a pre-defined Tunein channel in the Sonos controller. I only have this problem when listening through Sonos. When I listen on my Mac via the web player, I don't have this issue. The sonos scenario is: select the station, it plays fine, then a commercial block, then after the last commercial plays out, sikence & the Sonos controller shows the "Play" button (indicating the stream is currently stopped). I don't think this is a BW or other Internet issue as it happens consistently at the end of a block of commercials. Since I don't have this problem when listening via the web, it seems that Tunein is maybe doing something that the Sonos streamer doesn't like when transitioning from a commercial back to the music stream?
I've been adding songs I like to a Sonos Playlist. I've just realised I've ended up with a number of duplicate tracks. I naively though that the software would be intelligent enough to not list the same track twice within a playlist. How can I resolve this? I've got too many to manually scroll through and delete. This might be possible if you could sort your playlist by artist or alphabetically, but these are not options either...
Going to Library--> Artists--> (artist name) Info & Options: There is an empty frame for artist art that remains empty even when there is a folder.jpg image file in the artist folder next to albums. Music://Artist #1://Album #1 Album #2 Album #3 folder.jpg Can you please add support for this frame to accept the artist art file?
I am really enjoying my sonos system, but having come from a squeezebox, I am missing the feature that would show me my new music in my music library. It basically showed the most recently added 100 albums from the current date. That would be an excellent addition to your already fantastic product....or my question really is can I do that already? I haven't figured out if so. Let me know if I have just missed this one. TIA
Hello, can you add an option to share Spotify playback on Facebook, just like it is when I play music with the Spotify app? Right now none of my home music activity is shown on Facebook since I use Sonos at home but Spotify at work. Would be great to see *all* my activity posted.
Hi, In Spotify there is a possibility to add your local music (songs on your harddrive) to your spotify playlists. I have "extended" almost all my spotify playlists like this. However, while my Sonos system have access to the same local music, these "local songs" are not present when I play these "extended" Spotify playlists through the Sonos system!! I could of course manually make sonos playlists which includes both the spotify songs and the local songs, but this would take forever (several 1000s of songs in total). I have already invested many hours over the years with the spotify lists and I do not want to spend many hours again (for something that should be "the work of a computer" :-) Hopefully this should be possible to fix easliy, or? Let me know! Many thanks! Jim
I was forced by XM to change my log in due to some reason, who knows, but no when I try to connect to XM on sonos, it is telling me it is wrong, which is correct. My issue is that I cannot figure how to update my password from within the sonos app. Is there a way? I am not sure. I set up the Sonos player a year ago and cannot remember the process. If anyone can help, it would be much appreciated.
So there I was listening to some happy hardcore on my Sonos system, but fancied a bit of Pink Floyd... so I went to the right place, clicked on the file and was told i couldn't use the file. Look here at the screenshot: Seems I have to post > 3 posts to show links and images (why?????), so here we go... So why can't I play this flac? Cheers, Andy
I know this is always going to be a personal preference, but does anyone have any advice or pros / cons of different services? I was going to sign up for Spotify Premium just for the Sonos access, but have seen a lot of threads complaining about the lack of functionality in the Sonos implementation of the Spotify app, particularly the lock of Spotify Radio support. What about Rdio, Deezer and others? I am based in Sweden so Last.fm and US only services are currently out of reach :-( I could just sign up for each one for a month and test drive them but I'd love to hear the thoughts and recommendations of the Sonos community!!
