In their wisdom absolute radio has decided to stop streaming internationaly.
Just wondering if anyone has found an alternative way to stream absolute while abroad on the sonos.
Thanks in advance
Mark

I found them at: www dot rad dot io
... for reception in Toronto.
(Sorry for the silly dot notation - the forum won't let me post anything that looks like a URL.)

Sad news today .. the feed no longer works .. is this just me?
I still have it here up and running. I am in Denmark, maybe it's different elsewhere.

The following url is on the Aboslute Radio web app page and has worked for me when added as a radio station through "Manage" on the Sonos computer app. (sorry for the dot but the forum will not allow me to post the un-edited url)
network (dot) absoluteradio (dot) co (dot) uk/core/audio/mp3/live.pls?service=vrbb
network (dot) absoluteradio (dot) co (dot) uk/core/audio/mp3/live.pls?service=vrbb

Thank you!!! Still works for me. I noticed the iPhone app (from UK iTunes store) still worked without VPN, so it must be the same URL. You just don't get the HQ stream with less ads presumably as it's limited to UK.
ETA - any chance there's a way to manually add the graphic for Absolute Radio on the Sonos controller?

Hi all, thanks for the Absolute radio URL, works a treat from Australia.
Does anyone per chance have a stream URL for Absolute 80's....I'm struggling to get by without my 80's fix.
Ive managed to find a solution over the net but can't seem to find anything I can add (and get working) on Sonos.
Any help most appreciated.
cheers

While the link from Anders works, it's one stream and few controls and no other options.
The best info is pointed towards, by yyzkiwi, on the first page.

Google that and "absolute 80s" (so google: rad.io absolute radio 80s) - like sutty451, that's what drew me in - and you get the main Absolute Radio page as your first result and the "absolute 80s" as your second.
As a bonus, rad.io links to various other Absolute stations.
No software (other than browser) needed. Anyone can do this:
Here are the links:
Absolute Radio: http://absoluteradio.rad.io/
Absolute Radio Classic (Rock): http://absoluteclassicrock.rad.io/
Absolute Radio 60s: http://absolute60s.rad.io/
Absolute Radio 70s: http://absolute70s.rad.io/
Absolute Radio 80s: http://absolute80s.rad.io/
Absolute Radio 90s: http://absolute90s.rad.io/
Here's what it looks like:

You'll find many other stations, such as Capital and Heart, and a cool player to boot. I'd say that - rad.io - is the best bet.

Works fine with a browser but I can not get it to work with sonos .... Or am i doing something wrong ?

The 128k mp3 stream should work for you in Sonos:

Userlevel 2
thanks vinnielo .. I am actually using that stream but as I am in China I would prefer a lower bit rate .. the great firewall here really plays havoc with international web sites 😞

Does the 24k AAC+ stream work for you?

nope .. the dreaded ... this service is not available in your country

OK. Now try this:
http://aacplus-ar-32.timlradio.co.uk/
(Assuming you can link directly to a stream on the Sonos without a playlist file)

thanks .. that works ... what's the bit rate ? 32 ?
and it is actually working now which is a big thing because normally international sites are dead at this time of night.
I also use this one from timlradio.co.uk.. http://stream.timlradio.co.uk/ABSOLUTERADIOIRMP3
