320kbps BBC Radio on Sonos?

Hi all,

I’ve seen a number of threads around this (quite old) but can’t figure it out.

Is there a way of adding 320kbps streams of BBC Radio stations on to Sonos?

I assume the standard TuneIN and Sonos Radio streams are all at 128kbps?

Thanks!

It looks like Radio 3 is the only BBC station that broadcasts in 320 kbps now.

But I can’t seem to find the streaming URL for BBC Radio 3 HD.

Not sure why you assume that.  I think Sonos has been playing the 320kbps streams for years.  It will pick up the best quality stream available.  My reading of the article linked by @GuitarSuperstar is that by ‘HD Sound’, the BBC mean more than just 320kbps streams, and that Radio 3 is the only station currently streaming using ‘HD Sound’.

You could add the streaming URLs to Sonos manually if you can find out what the current URLs are.  I had these at one time but I am pretty sure those have been superseded.
