Life with Sonos
Life with Sonos. How do you get the most out of your Sonos system? Got any Sonos tips to share?
I love the Sonos system but I am really disappointed there is no support for bookmarks in audiobooks (and podcasts). I love listening to audiobooks and since I'm from Sweden Audible is not an option if I want to listen to Swedish audiobooks. I buy my books in MP3 or on CD and make them real bookmarkable audiobooks in the .m4b-format with the program Audiobook Builder so they are not DRM-protected. It's also annoying that I can't play the audiobooks I have on my iPhone in the Sonos app, I need to use the computer version. So please Sonos, fix support for bookmarks in audiobook (and podcasts) so all your audiobook loving customer can bookmark their audiobooks. :)
I was over on the B & H Photo web site and I was looking at the SONOS Subwoofer. It indicated that the Sub now includes "Integrated SONOSNet 2.0 Extender". I then when to the SONOS website and see no reference to this "New" stuff. I also noticed on the B&H site that they had discontinued Subs. Could someone please explain what changed and why the new is better?
We have a variety of players and a variety of controllers. We just moved back from Europe and are gradually setting up our Sonos system here. Today I tried to add our ZP100 to our working Sonos system. The iPhone and CR100 controllers work fine with it, but the Windows 8 Sonos controller only works partly - it can add music and the music will play, but it does not show the playing music, and its volume and start/pause buttons do not work for this controller. The Windows controller works fine with our other players (another ZP100, a Play:5, and two Play:1s), and the other controllers work fine with the new ZP100. Any ideas how to fix? Everything seems to be running the latest Sonos software. I downloaded and reinstalled the Windows controller but that did not fix it. (One possible source of the problem: the newly added ZP100 had been labelled "Living Room" when we used it in Switzerland, and we were adding it to a system that had another unit labelled "Living Room,"
Hello I am helping a friend set up Sonos in his vacation home. I've set up Sonos many times before (simple), but his particulars are stumping us. Here are the specifics: he has two homes next to each other, and they share an internet connection. Home 1 has the main internet pipe coming in, and then running through a router/firewall (Airport Extreme if it matters). Home 2 has an ethernet cable running from Home 1's Airport Extreme to its own router (Airport Express). Each of the wireless networks use different SSIDs etc, but obviously sharing the same network (and DHCP etc). What we are trying to do is to create separate system for Home 2, so that if someone is renting it down there, they don't also see the other sonos products on Home 1's network. As it is now, when you join a mobile device to Sonos anywhere in home 1 or 2, you see all 6 sonos products. We'd like Home 2 to see only their zones and Home 1 to see only theirs. I contend that the only way to do this is via
Our router was moved to a closet, so I can't plug my Sonos Connect to it as well as keep it connected to my analog receiver and speakers. What do I need to connect to a network? Is the Bridge still my best option or are there other options?
I just purchased the Play:1 to listen to music without turning my TV on. I use a Mac mini as an HTPC for all my media I was hoping this device would be able to use my iTunes library from my iPhone however I soon realized that the music needs to be stored on the iPhone. What good is this if my only choices are to cherry pick songs to store on my Phone for playback or running the risk of using all my phones space to store over 50,000 songs just to use this device. I hope I'm missing something and the community is able to help because at this point the speaker is useless. Sorry if I'm coming off vexed I'm just irritated. I was hoping after hardwiring (ethernet) the speaker I assumed I was able to play from my iTunes iOS app or at best be able to play ALL my music from iTunes without using every bit of space on my phone. The speaker is beautiful and is well made. I want to like it but maybe Bluetooth is the better option. Thank you for help in advance.
I have already done an initial setup of Sonos Play 1 using a macbook pro with 2 external drives where most of my music is tired. I added an additional folder to the drives, but cannot get songs to recognize it. I do not know what the share name and password is that it is looking for. Any ideas on how I can find this? Thank you in advance!
Hello fellow Sonos users, My wife & I are working on remodeling the basement and are at the budgetary phase. My wish to is to add another pair in the house of PlayBar & Sub. The room will primarily used by teens (not us - we want to have some peace & quiet!) and if we can't budget the PB+Sub I'll be looking for plan B. Please don't hate me: anyone has a suggestion for a soundbar + wireless sub and maybe 2 more wireless speakers to make a 5.1 setup? Was looking a Vizio, pricing is appealing ($500 for a 5.1 kit) but what about sound, will I cry my price difference away in regret? Same idea with Sony, Polk and other vendors. Damn why did Sonos make sure a good product? Looking for advice & guidance, thanks in advance!
I have tried with support but no luck. I primarily use slack, but all music services have a delay 90% of the time of between 5-7 seconds. Watching the track time the song then ends 5-7 seconds after it is supposed to be over. I have 1 Sonos5 hard wired, no wifi, no switches just directly into a Fortigate VPN router.
I'm new to the world of SONOS, so please bear with me. I purchased the soundbar, 2 One's and SUB to create the so-called 5.1. After readfing the forums i'm starting to understand that DTS is not possible without workarounds. I have an LG 4K TV that is set to output Dolby Digital, an optical cable straight from the TV to the soundbar. XBOX one. I have managed to get Star Wars BluRay to churn out 5.1 from the XBOX One which does sound awesome, but when I play my MKV's from my NAS via the XBOX one, they only play in stereo, or no sound at all. Has anyone managed to find a way around this. I think the MKV's maybe decoded to DTS. I have also tried via Kodi, but again only playing in Stereo or not at all. Any help is greatly appreciated
