Life with Sonos
Life with Sonos. How do you get the most out of your Sonos system? Got any Sonos tips to share?
There has been a bit of conjecture recently that Sonos could cease trading due to competition, and not catering for the latest and greatest audio formats. If this happened, where would that leave all their existing customers, regarding the Sonos App and the music streaming services? Just asking as I am thinking of a new system, and hope that Sonos will survive the stiff competition.
Hello there i added a playbar and instantly thought the volume was very very quiet at almost full volume. Then i had a idea about the optical volume setting. I checked the optical settings for my Samsung tv and found that the optical setting was set to maximum. So I then set it to -10. And then factory reset my playbar and went threw the pairing procedure again for the play bar. This has made the volume way louder and by then going to optical volume in tv and setting it to maximum again added extra volume. So if you think your playbar is low on volume try setting optical volume to minimum and reset up your paybar.
I bought the Sonos Soundbar, the Sonos Subwoofer, and two Play:3 speakers as surround sound speakers. As others posting reviews here and elsewhere have pointed out, Sonos wants you to use your TV as a hub, with all the inputs from your devices (Apple TV, Cable, etc.) going to the TV and then the optical audio out from the TV to the Playbar. However, most TV's won't pass Dolby Digital (DD) 5.1 surround from HDMI to the digital/optical audio (i.e., the Playbar), so what you get in most cases is stereo with muted simulated surround sound that is NOT surround sound from your surround speakers. After reading numerous reviews and comment boards on many websites, I tried (and was successful) with the following solution: I purchased a Shin Kin 4x2 Remote Control Digital Optical TOSlink Audio Fiber Optic Selector Switch Switcher Splitter (currently sold on Amazon for approximately $69.95). I connected each of my devices (I have Apple TV and DirectTV) to the "Optical Input" switches (calle
I have a projector (Sony VPLHW45ES) and projector screen, but I also have a television. The projector screen comes down in front of the TV when I want a bigger experience (yes, I'm spoiled and I hate myself). Anyway, it would be nice to shove the Playbase under the TV for when I'm using the TV, which is what I do primarily. Does the Playbase work with projectors? Any reason that pairing wouldn't work? Do I have to use a Playbar with the projector? I saw a post in another thread about how Netflix only supports DD+, which is too much for optical to handle. Not really sure what that means for me.
Is it possible with the playbase? I just set mine up and used the satellite dish remote but would also like to be able to adjust volume using my lg magic remote. I found instructions on how to set up the infrared remote but I don't want to use it exclusively. Just wanted to confirm that only one remote can be configured. The instructions say "only one remote can be configured at a time" but does this mean that only one an be used after configuration?
Recently Apple included iTunes Match features to Apple Music. Matched tracks are drm free if ITunes iCloud status shows "matched". Those tracks are also shown in Sonos Apple Music but can't get played. I'm still on latest Sonos stable firmware release. Is this already fixed in latest betas? Where can I submit an error report?
Tell me WHEN the service will be restored to AUDIBLE..... the fact that it does NOT work is ludi5ludicrous and it's a deal breaker, we hope, for many others. prompt resolution demanded.... nicely With all due respect, We recently purchased 18 SONOS products to fill my studio.... We are very very diappointed.... FYI, if you care?.... NO AUDIBLE = RETURN TO STORE + HONEST REVIEWS ONLINE Unless, u tell can me this will be fixed ASAP...? You give no timeline on your website! If Pandora or Sirius failed, you would not stall like this.... STOP DISCRIMINATING!!! AUDIBLE IS AS IMPORTANT AS SIRIUS SPOTIFY, ETC. FIX IT ASAP!!!!!!! (please) Whose with me? #boycottSONOS (?) .......for thier discrimination against AUDIBLE listeners!!! :-/
Hi, I love the "On this mobile device" feature on the mobile app and used to use it all the time on my Samsung Galaxy S2/S5 phones. Now I have a OnePlus 3 and presumably because of the different storage structure, the Sonos mobile app can't find my podcasts. I've read this article: https://sonos.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/325/kw/podcasts/ and understand that if I moved the podcasts to the /Podcasts root subfolder they'd be found, but I use Beyondpod which only gives me two choices of location. Would it be possible to add some extra folder search locations? On my phone the podcasts default to: /storage/emulated/0/Podcasts/Beyondpod/Podcasts I imagine it would be quite a quick fix and could quickly add a lot of functionality for a lot of users. Thanks!
We just signed up for a Premium account through Tidal to take advantage of a free 3month premium service. Anyways my wife signed up using & signing in via the Facebook method. Well it made it easy to sign up for Tidal but now I cannot use her Facebook username/password to add the Tidal service to my Sonos music services. I've tried and tried and no luck using her Facebook credentials. Even if you try and log in directly to the Tidal website using her Facebook username/password it doesn't acknowledge you as an account holder. How do we go about adding this service?
Sonos isn't consistently recognizing audio from Roku. My setup is a playbar, sub and two PLAY 3s. It's been working til now but either the latest update or a thunderstorm last night has affected the system. Netflix sound works, but HBO Now and Amazon show up as "unsupported audio." Files a diagnostic. Number 7774787. Please help.
My sonos will play Pandora and internet radio However it will not find my itunes library. I get an error message that says that my computer can't be found. My music is there and I can listen to it from my computer. I can see it when I browse for folders in Sonos, yet somehow it won't find it. I have been unable to play my music for a while now and have no idea what to do. Help. Thanks
I know some are having trouble Sonos connecting to their networks. I had the same and would like to share my fix. Personally I own an Asus router and the Sonos will never connect unless you disable the "fair streaming" part on your router. Thank you tech support for helping me on this one :) Hope this helps,
