I recently just purchased the Beam Gen2, and my current setup is a projector screen in my basement.  I’m trying to avoid having to run wires behind my wall, so I’m wondering if the placement of the Beam is crucial for the sound?

Im considering mounting it above the screen, just below the rafters, as this would make this an easier project by being able to run wires through the rafters.  I purchased the Sonos mount, so this wouldn’t allow me to angle it downward.

What should I do?

I hooked everything up as I planned to, and not a single issue with sound.  Thanks for the feedback!

Are you sure the Beam is the right solution for you?

In that room I’d surely go with an Sonos Amp and in-wall speakers.

The amp could go anywhere (HDMI or Optical from projector) and all you’d have to drop in the wall is speaker wire.

Set at about your seated ear level or a bit higher.

Ideally, BEAM should be at ear level and centered on the image. Some screens are acoustically transparent. It this is the case for your screen, BEAM could be placed behind the screen. Mounting BEAM above the screen in this room would be my last choice location.

The screen is displayed on the wall.  I’m trying to avoid having to make a mess by running power and the hdmi cable behind the wall as I just finished the basement.  Above the screen, just under the crown moulding is where I’m considering.
