When tv is connected to playbar there is no noticeable delay. Maybe if I connect devices to playbar (vs sonos5), same will apply.

a plain 3.5mm to optical cable will not work - you need an actual converter. But there would not be a delay that would be noticeable.
Hope such converters are not expensive. Who sells them? Are there iOS app that can do the trick?
Also will this approach (iPad>converter>playbar) be better sound quality/delay wise than plugging iPad to Sonos5?
