In a 5.1 setup can the playbar be turned off leaving you with a 2.1 system.

This will impact my decision to build a 5.1 system with with play 5s over 1s.

Thanks

No. The PLAYBAR is the main component of the 'room'.

But you can set in the audio advanced settings Music to be "Full". This means when you play from a music source (IE NOT TV) then priority is given to the surrounds and sub for music. Sounds great.

Thanks for the prompt responses. Any chance the play bar can be muted?

It was my understanding the sub can be muted or turned off and was hoping the same was possible for the bar.

Planning to use the 5.1 to listen to music as well without having the bar in the mix and not have to go through the process of unbonding and rebonding?

I think you'll be happy if you set the Audio to full for music. It doesn't switch the Player off but it handles music very well.

Give it a try.

I think you are over thinking it. The PlayBar is amazing for music with the 2x Play1s and Sub you will be happy.
