I have a JBL sound bar and connect box and play5 speaker. JBL is being used for tv and I need help to connect through the sonos system

Sonos can't drive a 3rd party Soundbar. What are you trying to do with the Connect and Play 5?
I am trying to make the sound bar part on the sonos app. I was told it could be done with a connect box

No, it cannot.
Sorry to disappoint but yes you can, I connected via optical and works perfectly
