Sonos Beam mutes when I change HDMI soure on TV

I have an LG TV which does not have ARC. When I change source from one HDMI input to another, the Sonos Beam mutes (or drops audio to zero).
The Beam is connected to the optical input of the TV due to the fact that I don’t have ARC.

it is very annoying having to turn the volume up every time I change between my Sky set top and Chromecast. Pleas help!!!!

That certainly seems odd. Since optical is a one way connection, going from the TV to the Sonos, there has to be something on the TV’s side that is causing this change in volume. Have you checked to see if there are any firmware updates to the TV? Is there perhaps a setting in the TV’s audio settings that allows you to set the optical (digital) output to “fixed”, rather than “variable”?
