So I plan on getting an Arc along with my ARC compatible TV. One of my sources is an xbox one s. I’ve been trying to research a bit to see how this will all work, but getting a lot of vague answers, even from xbox support site. Yes, xbox one s (and x) support dolby atmos, but there doesn’t seem to be much detail beyond that. Here are the questions I have.
When watching a blue-ray in TrueHD- Atmos, will the xbox send TrueHD or DD+ to the TV?
I saw a reddit user claim that it was DD+, but this was a few years back. Could have been wrong or changed since then.
When playing a game with Atmos, will the xbox send TrueHD or DD+ to the TV?
I have seen nothing about the specific code, only the Atmos format. It appears that some game titles will only do Atmos on the Xbox One X, not S. I would guess that games are all in DD+, but don’t know why some games will only work on X. Could it be because X can do True HD while S cannot?
When streaming video content, will the xbox send TrueHD or DD+ to the TV?
This seems almost assuredly to be DD+. However, it’s also the feature I personally care about the least.
