Playbar_Sony TV & Virgin Tivo box

I have had a playbar and a Play 1 for a few years now. I have just purchased an additional Play 1 so I can have a home theatre set-up. The Playbar only has network connections and an optical connection. The surround sound is working when watching through the TV but not when watching through the Tivo box. Is there a way to get the surround sound working through the Tivo box as well? My TV is a fairly new Sony 55" with HDMI/ARC connections but of course no HDMI on the Playbar so I should be grateful for any help.

I am guessing the Samsung is like my old one, which will not pass DD 5.1 from HDMI over optical, and forces it to DD 2.0. You need one of these: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M3SH3CL



Fortunately Samsung seem to have realized their mistake, the new one I got this week passes 5.1 directly.

I am assuming "not working" means "stereo instead of surround". If there is no sound at all then you need to fix the TiVo audio settings to emit DD 5.1.
