Xfiniti remote, Samsung TV, get messages with volume changes

That’s certainly one way :) But it all depends on what hardware is in use, hence the link. 

I appreciate the reply, however Xfiniti remotes are not part of the list provided.  I have not seen anything on the community site for Xfiniti remotes?

It’s probably hard for Sonos to keep up with the many different devices brought out by manufacturers across the globe on a constant basis. The base logic behind most of those would resolve your issue, even if not specific to XFinity. And the data is applicable to those who find your thread at a later point in time.
