Issues with rear sound on Play:1 with Sonos Playbar, Samsung Q7F TV and TiVo

Sound from the Sonos setup on on my Samsung phone sounds amazing, full rich and as if i am centedd in the sound.....but when watching TV all the sound is coming from the Playbar. Hard to hear, and have to turn up sound. Have Samsung set to PCM, have TIVO set to PCM as well. Comcast to TiVo. Tivo via HDMI to TV (standard, not ARC HDMI). Optical cable from TC Connect Box to Sonos playbar. Only time I hear any sound in play:1 is on 5.1 type surround sound. Very large room 14-16 open area, with peaked ceiling (8' at walls, 16" at center). Someone suggested removing the Play:1 and setting them up as standalone speakers instead of surround speakers. Thoughts, suggestions - tired of blasing TV just to hear it from the playbar.
