Is this the spec for optimal 5.1 surround sound?

In the "Connections," for the Sony XBR-55X930D, it lists the following:

"optical digital audio output (can pass Dolby® Digital/DTS multichannel or 2-channel audio from connected sources)"

Is that the correct spec for optimal 5.1 surround sound using the PLAYBAR, SUB and PLAY1's?

Yes, that should work.

I knew "can pass Dolby® Digital" was right; I did not know if "/DTS" changed anything for the worse.
PLAYBAR can't decode DTS. Your Sony TV setting will be a choice between forwarding the audio 'as is' and downconverting to stereo.
That sounds simple enough; I think even I can handle that!
