If I purchase the Surround Set, are the One SL speakers truly wireless or will they need to be plugged into an outlet or amp?

They do indeed have a need for a power source, to plug in to. They don’t have speaker wires.
You will not find any back speakers that wont need at least a power outlet. But on the bright side you won't need to feed the cables to the system.
