Since the most recent update the Alarm volume is not working as it should. (6.4.8 on iPhone) I use Tunein radio and use the bedroom as my main alarm with linked rooms. What used to happen, which seemed correct, was the Alarm would come on at the selected volume as per the alarm setting. Now it comes on at whatever volume it was set to previously including mute! I don't know about you but muted alarms are not very good at waking me up. So I am either being blasted awake by a volume I set the previous day when listening to a quieter source, or not at all. Worse other parts of the house are doing the same so my neighbors are probably wondering why I need the kitchen radio on maximum at 6.30 am. Any suggestions?
Hardware registration, Sonos account information, and the Sonos forum are all handled by the same software - Insided. Given that after 2 weeks this software is still incapable of rejecting spam, how secure is our account and registration information? Is it possible that all Sonos speakers could be hacked using Mirai or similar to become part of a botnet used in DDOS attacks?
Have a sonos play1 which has always worked fine but I have had to replace the wireless access point in the room it is in. The access point is set up with the same name and password as previous and after some frustration I have managed to get the sonos and my phone to connect to is and I can operate the sonos with my phone ap. However I cannot seem to see the sonos anymore using my pc which is wired into a home network. This used to work before the new AP. Looking at my BT network settings it recognises the new AP on the system but it is not showing my phone and sonos being connected to the network and I feel this is the issue and the PC cannot talk to the sonos but need help on how to solve the problem.
Got the normal message saying a beta update was available. Android app updated no problem (which also updated my play 5, play 1 and zone player), windows desktop controller keeps giving a message of "The Sonos controlller installer failed to load". I've tried reinstalling it numerous times, rebooted the sonos devices and router and still the same message.
I've currently got packed up in boxes my new 5.1 system and wondered when I do get moved and unpacked whether I need anything to play my Spotify music through the system? Is it simply a case of linking my phone with the system and playing, or is it a little more complicated than that? Thanks
So... For some reason you can't set the rear speakers (in my case two play 3some paired with the playbar in a 5.1 setup) to duplicate the front L/R signal when watching TV. Frustrating. Its nice to be able to do that so you can keep the vplume relatively low and still hear the voices on shows/movies. Sonos needs to either: Add a toggle to move quickly between surround sound or full stereo, OR allow us to drop more money on speakers and pair them with the soundbar as front L/R signal. For $2300 this is a simple feature that $300 units usually have. Come on guys ;)
I have a Samsung HD tv. Model # UN55D6005SF. My tv does not have the "D" shaped audio output port, only the mini single male optical cable port. I tried a toslink to mini optical cable to connect my tv to my playbar, but it did NOT work. I routed through the cable box, but now that limits me to what I'm watching on cable. Any suggestions on how to get a connection b/t my tv and playbar directly?
Can you please, please, produce the Sub in white as well. Would love to add it to my system, but not in black!! Would also consider the Playbar, but only in white of course. Please be as consistent in offering a consistent visual experience as you do for the sound and easy to install experience. Really don't understand the concept of the Sonos color scheme today!
I use a Yamaha AV receiver (RX-V2700) that I like very much. I feed my Apple TV, DVD and Cable Box to my TV by an HDMI cable providing surround sound from them all. In addition, I have a turntable that also feeds audio to my current SS speaker system. I am considering using some Sonos speakers to replace my current speakers. Can the Playbar based surround system work with the optical output from my Yamaha AV receiver, allowing me to use all of my devices?
Hi, Just picked up a Playbar from Amazon which is arriving today - been doing some reading around on the whole DD5.1 vs DTS support argument. I'm not precious over exactly what format my audio is in, but eventually I'll be adding 5.1 support by adding a sub and some rear speakers so I'm looking for the easiest/best way of achieving true 5.1 surround from my living room setup. I have a Panasonic AS650B TV, hooked up to an Amazon Fire TV (new one supporting 5.1), and an LG BP556 blu-ray player. The playbar is replacing a Philips Fidelio B5 which I've had a lot of issues with, but it did take all the inputs and handle all the audio decoding etc seamlessly so I didn't need to worry about it at all. So my main question is, how do I ensure that I get 5.1 surround whenever possible using my current setup? The manual for my TV states that there are 2 options for audio output via SPDIF - Auto and PCM. Auto states that DD, DD Plus, HE-AAC multi-channel are all output as DD bitstream, a
How do you do this? Currently, this is what happens specifically: I turn on Sonos ilving room set up to play either a playlist or Pandora while TV is showing something like Vevo or YouTube or Vimeo. The music will play until the video switches to the next one. Then the Sonos starts playing from TV instead of continuing the music. How do I prevent this?
So I have a collection of MKV movies with 5.1ch DTS-HD. I play them from various USB. I just hooked up my Sonos surround sound. The back two speakers are not getting any action when playing these files. I researched from about 20 mins but couldn't find a thread with this exact issue. How can I get the surround sound to work? Thanks!
Hi, I have a playbar + sub, and I am thinking of making a full 5.1 system using either Play:1's or Play:3's. I have done a lot of reading on the forum, and a common comment is that when you have two Play:1's bonded with a sub, two Play:3's with a sub provide very little value add because the main benefit of the Play:3 is the bass, which the sub would provide anyway. Now, I know that in a 5.1 setup, and when I have the 'full' setting for music the rear speakers will act as a full stereo pair. What is not clear to me, is how they will leverage the sub? In particular, will they use the sub in exactly the same way as they would if the playbar was not present? On a related note, we have a very open floor plan, where the living area (with the TV + playbar + sub) and the dining area and the kitchen is one large space. The rear speakers would be in the 'middle' of this large room, around 5-7 feet away from the sitting area where we watch TV. When playing music, the hope is that they will
I recently set up Playbar and Sub with a Samsung TV. All works well. When I switch from TV to music, the TV mutes and the music plays but the TV screen remains on. Other than hitting the off button on TV remote, is there a way to automate having the TV to toggle off when I start playing music? Thanks.
I don't know if its already ben asked, but could a 'silent' setting be added to the music playback section for surrounds in the room settings? so when 2 channel music is selected to be played they don't receive any signal, then when TV is selected they perform as normal? The full range setting just sounds wrong to my ears, and the ambient setting makes the music sound far too processed I know you can turn them off, but its a real faff to go into the menus, turn them off, then when you go back to surround, turn them back on. a simple one time selection then not have to mess around would be ideal, IMO.
my friend is looking to set up his home theater. i recommended he do the 5.1 system which consists of 2 play 1s, 1 playbar and 1 sub. can he connect 2 more play 1s to the tv system as opposed to them being grouped to the tv? would that even work? can it work without having to group 2 additional play 1s to the sonos 5.1 system?
I have a soundbar and love it. When listening to a dts track it cone though as stereo, still sounds good. I was wondering, it dts a hardware of software upgrade. If t Sonos were ever to release a soundbar 2 which had the ability to decode dts, and knowing how good sonos are with backgrading their support for software, it is possible for this to be added to the playbar by way of software upgrade or is it a hardware thing making that impossible?
I have a playbar with a pair of Play1s and a sub. I'd like to set up three groups:

TV: playbar+sub+L+R
Kitchen: L only
Living Room: sub+L+R
Not being able to figure this out is making my wife angry. How can I make this happen people?
