hi guys, I’m currently running a 5.1 setup in living room with Samsung q8 tv. It seems many people who are running a similar setup are having issues with the volume balance while watching content with 5.1 audio. I’m talking about an issue where dialogue sound is too low, while action sounds way too loud. I’m wondering if this is something Sonos will address in the future or are we just stuck with this. Sure I can turn on speech enhancement but that makes speech sound very high pitch and makes it sound way too cheap. Given the higher standard and attention to detailS Sonos put in to their products, I’m very disappointed by this. Hopefully this will be addressed soon...
It is well known that the Shield TV won't downsample Dolby Digital Plus from the Netflix app to regular Dolby Digital, so many people (myself included) cannot get a Sonos 5.1 setup working properly with certain apps on the Nvidia shield. I am wondering if a new TV with better audio passthrough capabilities will solve this problem for me. Specifically, I am looking at the Samsung QLED QE65Q9FN, which according to rtings is supposed to have 5.1 dolby digital passthrough via optical (see https://www.rtings.com/tv/tests/inputs/5-1-surround-audio-passthrough). Does anyone know if a Samsung Q9FN TV will actually downsample Dolby Digital Plus from the Nvidia Shield and pass through regular Dolby Digital to Sonos? I would be grateful to hear experiences from anyone that has this setup (Nvidia Shield TV with Netflix --> Samsung Q9FN --> Sonos 5.1) I should have mentioned that I have a Sonos Playbar 5.0 s
Hi, I have done a lot of research about this issue and I found out that it purely rely on the TV HDMI-ARC passthrough to determine whether you can have the 5.1 surround option in Netflix app on the shield TV. So the result will be vary based on the TV models. I just want to let you know that it is now possible to choose 5.1 surround option in Netflix after upgrading to the SHIELD Experience 8.0. As long as you manually choose to enable the dolby digital plus format under advanced sound settings. It worked in my test. I am not familiar with these technical explanations so please forgive me if I use the wrong terms.
After I moved to a new home, I don't have space to put big speakers around and run wires. Soundbar seems like an interesting concept. Reading all the good reviews of the sound quality of playbar, I went ahead and bought a Playbar along with the Sub but have been struggling to get DD5.1. I haven't bought the read surround yet (the One or One SL) but just trying to see if it will fit need first. My TV is an old Panasonic Plasma (and I haven't found anything that I can replace with) and hence it doesn't pass 5.1 through Optical from external sources - though internal sources seems to be fine. Reading more on the forums, I realize that this is an issue for many - went ahead an bought a HDMI switch which can do EDID but it's really a pain to handle two devices just to do input switching - to make matters worse, the Comcast Xfinity X1 box doesn't switch off and hence even if I turn off the TV, the playbar keeps playing until I turn off the switch. Moreover, the Sonos ecosystem only support
I am remodeling my theater/bar entertaining room that previously just had an old 5.1 Dolby system. we are big sports watching people so I planned to setup the tv area with; 2 Sonos Amps 1 Sonos Sub 1 Pair of Sonos/Sonace Architectural InWalls 1 pair of Sonos/Sonace Architectural InCeiling i am being told by a Best Buy Magnolia guy that I will not be happy with this system or the sound quality from being hooked up to a tv. He also said I need to add a center speaker or sound bar to get adequate sound to match my old 5.1 system. Along with the above setup I also plan to add another Sonos Amp and set of InCeiling speakers to the back area of the room above the bar connected to another tv. Being I have not been able to hear these in person looking for insight on if this is adequate and good setup for our needs.
My set up is an LG55C8 with a Sonos Beam and two surround speakers connected to the TV via ARC and HDMI all ok on Freesat TV and when my MAG322 is connected for my iptv and also fine on the TV's in built iptv with my paid for subscription service But my issue is once I have connected my brand new 4K Firestick TV I then get lip sync issues with the firestick on live broadcasts The Firestick has been tested on my other TV and works with no noticeable lip sync issues but as soon as its loaded onto the C8 I get the issue. The iptv provider on the Firestick is the same as on the Mag and the inbuilt iptv app on the C8 Is it a comparability issue? Just a quick update This morning I unplugged everything and just ran the Firestick through HDMI 1 with the TV sound only and the lip sync was even worse. The Firestick has been tested independently and is working perfectly so I can only assume that there is a compatibility issue between the C8 and the Firestick 4K
I have a Vizio TV hooked up to a soundbar and sub. When I previously had Comcast cable service, I could control the TV volume solely with the soundbar. e.g. if I changed the volume with the buttons on the side of the soundbar, it would change the TV volume. If I used the Comcast remote, it would change the volume, and both the soundbar and TV were synchronized. I moved and now have Spectrum. I assume it has nothing to do with the remote controls, but I set up the Spectrum remote to control the soundbar and sub volume. And I set the TV audio output to fixed with external audio control. The soundbar is connected via the fiber output, as it was before. But now the soundbar and TV volume levels are not synchronized. For instance, I can turn the volume all the way down with the remote control, which goes to 0 on the onscreen level indicator, and then walk up to the soundbar and use the buttons on the side to increase the volume, even though the TV still says its at zero volu
I’m getting audio drops on the sonos playbase when streaming Netflix’s on my LG E8. I’ve reported it to sonos and they say the audio into the playbase is getting errors and have blamed the tv. Funny enough the Netflix’s app on the Apple TV 4 seems to be fine and that’s routing through the tv as well. I was wondering if anyone else with a 2018 LG oled is having issues with audio drops via the optical cable.
I moved my 3 year old playbar to my vacation house and when setting it up I couldn’t get the playbar to recognize the remote for volume control. I tried to pair it with the xfinity xr15 remote or the Samsung tv remote with no luck. I spent an hour and a half on the phone with Sonos only to end up that they thought my ir receiver on the Sonos was bad even though it had worked perfectly at my other house. I ran out and bought a new playbar and I had the same problem. I then took my old playbar and hooked it up to another tv and it recognized the xfinity remote without a problem. In the cabinet under the tv I have my router, a T-Mobile Cel booster, telephone and a Samsung hub as well as a Sonos amp , DVD player and the xfinity receiver. I thought the issue might be interference so I disconnected the T-Mobile, phone, and Samsung hub. Tried to set it up again and it worked. This morning though, turned on the tv and the volume is not working again. Any idea what could be the problem?
Yesterday, August 31st 2019, after a Sonos software update my Sony TV remote no longer controls the soundbar volume. In the Android app I tried deleting the TV remote and re-adding it which was successful according to the app but the remote still does not control the volume. Sony model XBR55X900E.
A small set top box like device with HDMI, eARC, optical, analog Inputs. Decoding Atmos, DTS, DSD inputs, ... The box could also work as a SONOS wireless network hub ! Imagine you connect your Xbox, PlayStation, UltraHD BDP, TV or Beamer to the SONOS receiver which handles everything like a charm. You choose your speaker setup as you wish to: f.e. I would give the Beam as center, two One as FR and FL, two more for the rear channels and two Subs a shot! ...but you could also take a Playbase for the front, add four Atmos „Ones“ and two Ones RR & RL ... endless combinations !!! Why isn‘t SONOS doing that ???? Not to speak of the outdated Playbar from 2012 ... ^^
I am building a new house and I am trying to think through the home theater in the basement. I would like to get a projector and use that for my PS4, Apple TV and a 4k Blu-Ray Player. I currently have those connecting to a TV in my living room with a Playbar, Sub, 2 x Play 1's. I would like to duplicate this setup (or maybe a Beam) but wanted to get some suggestions on how I can make this work with a projector. I can't seem to find a solid answer so especially if someone has done this before, please let me know your setup. Thanks!
Like the Audyssey App with Marantz and Denon AVRs ...just meassure your setup with TruePlay and then start the App again to calibrate and finetune each targetcurve and channel to your likings !? Add in a few presets and let me activate them via Alexa ! ^^ so shut up and take my money €&@&)& looks of the Audyssey App:
Hi, In the manual it say that the input audio is disabled for Sonos amp. Is the hdmi audio also disable? Use case. If you have a projector in the mix it would be awesome if you could connect the audio to the amp when acting as rear speakers in a sorrund setup. As it would be the close to the amp anyway. It should be able to be done with software, so if any from sonos is reading this, please think about how to use a projector in a home theatre setup and make it easy for us :-) Now we got a powerful amp out there.
Hi, I have a TV set up with the sonos playbar, sub and two play ones. These are created under one room in the sonos app. i also have two ceiling speakers connected to a sonos zp120 amp. These are created as another room on the sonos amp. when watching a movie, we group those rooms together so effectively I would have all on playing the tv sound. when watching Netflix or Now tv, basically any streamed service, the sound drops in and out. This doesn’t happen when watching terrestrial tv or playing music via Spotify etc. Could you help me with why that would be please? We have no additional equipment which may interfere such as a computer etc. I cannot hardwire back to the bt hub and we use wireless connections for the soundbar. Thanks very much. Lucy
i currently have the beam and 2x One, and have been using it daily for spotify and tv watching. my old setup which has 2 floor standing and 5 satellites (acoustimass 10 or something like that), plus 2x subwoofer, these are connected to a Denon 3313 AVR. i was using this setup to watch movies through a HTPC, but i haven't been using it that much nowadays, and now i mostly watch netflix, youtube, and vudu through my 2014 samsung tv app or the apple tv 4k. so i was thinking if i should get the Sonos Amp to make use of some of my old speakers/sub or you guys have other suggestions?
Just got around to adding the Sonos Sub to my Sonos Beam w/2 Play:1's after a bit over a year and not only am I blown away by the difference, but my wife and brother-in-law are also extremely impressed; she encouraged me to post. I have always been pleased with my Sonos systems performance, but now I am ecstatic. The automatic equalization that occurs once adding the Sub and performing Trueplay significantly improves the Beam and Play:1's clarity/detail even though they were already quite good (their focus is now strictly the mid's and high's) and the low end punch from the Sub is extremely impressive. I regret not adding the Sub to my set-up sooner; would have possibly had me reconsider running wires for my dedicated 7.1 surround sound system in our remodeled recreation room while down to studs/framing, but my Denon and Polk setup need a place too. I scored an amazing deal on the Sub ($420), but I can honestly say it is worth retail ($700); such an improvement.
Added a sub finally, it is mentioned that Sonos sub is designed to be on the floor but tried putting on top of TV cabinet next to Beam, is is a bad place for the sub? I’ve placed my beam in front of my LGC7. Volume controls work nicely with my magic remote however the power seems to not work. Its like the power function can only work if the beam is not in front of the tv. I’m guessing this is an IR function? The beam can power up and down with Alexa. I’m not sure if it’s supported? Any ideas?
When I load up a movie on my Samsung 4K player there is a worryingly loud, sharp sound after any action has been completed (after the Blu Ray has loaded, once I've pressed play etc.) and it doesn't sound like any normal, healthy booting up noises. I've had this system for about two years now and this has only started recently. It doesn't happen on any other source like Apple TV, or while the Blu Rays are playing, so I'd just like to know if it's fixable or if it's even anything to worry about at all. Thanks!
