Hi, I installed my Playbar today and as it turns out only HDMI 2 returns sound via the playbar. All other devices (not on HDMI 2 don't. If I switch a device to HDMI 2 that device works. Is someone also experiencing the same problem or maybe has a suggestion or fix? Thanks!
Hi Sonos, hope someone can help me! Set up my playbar and play 1s to have full surround sound in my lounge. The next day I realise there is no sound coming from the rear speakers, launch the sonos app from my iPhone to the message "It looks like one of your speakers could be unplugged. Go to room settings to see which one is missing." The only option I have is to 'remove surrounds' Once this is done and Play 1s re added as the rear speakers everything is fine. But remember the whole process of readding and re-tuning through true play takes a good 5-10mins! The next day the same thing happens! (i.e have left home gone to work etc etc) I have so far had to do this 7 days in a row! Please help how do i fix this??
Hi, I've been searching but haven't found a good answer to this topic... I'm going to be mounting a TV above a fireplace (you will be slightly looking up when sitting) and I was going to put my playbar on the mantle. Which orientation should the playbar have, vertical or horizontal? Horizontal seems to suggest sound shooting at an upward angle toward the ceiling and vertical will be shooting downward toward the feet of the watcher. Also, I know 4+ inches is required if mounting vertical but if it sits on the mantle, is this required? Thanks, Dave
I recently just purchased a play bar and two play 1 and just I I have a playbar and two play 1's and just ordered a sub and got my play 5 in today and was wondering if there is going to be an update so I can add my play 5 to my surround sound as a rear center speaker instead of having to just group it with my surround sound
I started my Sonos setup with just the simple play 5. In the interest of adding more sound and a more realistic home theater setup I added two play 1's for my rear speakers. Now, its not playbar setup but it works really well for me (when it works). 90% of the time I have no issues what so ever and everything sounds great, but randomly my two play 1's will start cutting in and out, maybe 2 seconds at a clip and every few minutes or so. Not sure if my router could be the issue or if the speakers aren't set up properly or maybe its just the fact that they are meant to work better with the playbar and not the Play 5. Any suggestions or help would be great!
Firstly, I was able to setup the samsung smart remote with successfully with the playbar, I can turn down/up volume on the playbar with the smart remote - so far so good. The volume control works 100% fine. However, the TV will instantly exit any open application when I use the volume controls. I.E. if I am watching a series through the HBO app and try to adjust the volume with the smart remote, the TV will exit the app and go to cable tv... I have been searching for a way to solve this problem without success... Anyone able to help?
My wife, who's hearing-impaired, uses Widex hearing aids. One of the Widex accessories is called a TV-Dex. It consists of two parts: a base unit that connects to a TV sound system via RCA jacks, and a wireless device she wears on a lanyard that is paired with, and transmits the TV sound signals directly to, her hearing aids. Does anyone have experience or ideas about using this device with the Sonos system? Should it work with a CONNECT? Or will I need to connect the base to a CONNECT:AMP instead? Any thoughts or suggestions much appreciated.
I have a new Playbar, and I'm wondering if it's faulty - I've read and followed all the instructions/ Sonos links about the available settings etc. The playbar is flat on the TV stand with no side obstructions. I've not really played much 5.1 content, but when playing stereo music e.g Spotify there seems to be very little Left-Right separation. I've tried Audio test tones which play frequency sweeps on Left then Right alternately, plus various music which has very clear separation e.g. end of Bohemian Rhapsody where there are guitar sections on each side alternately (not my normal listening but seemed a good test piece:-) If I get my head right up to the Playbar I can just about tell which side the sound is coming from, but it certainly doesn't project into the room - from a normal listening position it sounds like mono. The same source on a pair of Play1's has great separation, so it's not a source issue. I'm wondering whether or not my Playbar could be faulty?.(with 9 speak
I have a new Samsung TV and bought a Sonos Sound player, subwoofer and two Play 3's. Very disappointed that they don't really work together. The smart remote cannot control the volume and the regular remote displays two odd symbols instead of a numeric volume level. Before I return the Sonos kit can anyone help? Thanks, Nigel
I'm guessing it should be possible for the Playbar to detect when a commercial break is on, since the sound is quite compressed. It should then be configurable how to handle that; mute or just lower volume as long as the audio signal is compressed.
Hey All, I have an Xbox One and an Amazon FireTV hooked into ViewHD 3x1 switch (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00U8WBOOG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) via HDMI. I have the XBOX set to Bitstream (Dolby Digital), but when I play from apps that I'm assuming aren't 5.1 (Pandora, for example), I only get audio from the Playbar and Sub. No rear speaker audio. What am I doing wrong?
Spotify just launched it's API called "Spotify Connect". Read more here: http://techcrunch.com/2013/09/02/spotify-makes-its-biggest-hardware-play-yet-with-spotify-connect-synching-music-at-home-and-beyond/ Basically this allows Spotify users to control their music directly through the Spotify App on all devices. That means: You can finally listen to music on the go, e.g. on your way home, and resume your playlist when you arrive. Also that means: SPOTIFY RADIO FOR YOUR SONOS So many great features and advantages BUT as you can read in the techcrunch article above, SONOS WILL NOT SUPPORT IT. That makes me really sad and angry and therefore I say: Build what your customers want and implement Spotify Connect now!
Hi, I've just purchased a new TV above as per the title and for the life of cannot get it to connect to the tv via optical cable. I've tried both setting that are shown on the tv audio menu namely PCM and RAW, HISENSE manual says to choose RAW for sound bars where as PCM is for an AMP. but i still cant get it to detect, there is a red light shining out of the cable when i remove it from the playbar so i think the cable is ok. Is there anything else i can do get this sorted or another way of connecting to this TV. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Andy
