When I group a Connect AMP and Playbar (which is connected to a TV), I can't control the volume using the TV's remote as a group, it only adjusts the volume of the Playbar. This means I have to reset the balance of the speakers within the group every time someone adjusts the volume using the TV remote. Having to adjust the volume on my Connect Amp within the Sonos app is a real pain. Is there a way the group volume can be controlled by the TV remote?
We recently remodeled our family room, and the Sonos Playbar was a key component in the upgrade. I spent a good deal of time researching the various aspects of the remodel. I know this post is lengthy, but I wanted to include pertinent details to hopefully help others researching similar setups. Previously we had a 40” TV inside a TV armoire, with an inexpensive surround system, bluray player, and cable box all in the same armoire. When remodeling the room, we decided that having the TV above the fireplace would work best with regards to room dynamics. However, there were two issues created by that decision: 1. I wasn’t crazy about the prospect of staring up at the TV constantly (being an Optometrist, I am keenly aware how eye position relates to eyestrain and headaches)., 2. I bought the Sonos Soundbar, the Sonos Subwoofer, and two Play:3 speakers as surround sound speakers. As others posting reviews here and elsewhere have pointed out, Sonos wants you to use your TV as a hub, with all the inputs from your devices (Apple TV, Cable, etc.) going to the TV and then the optical audio out from the TV to the Playbar. However, most TV's won't pass Dolby Digital (DD) 5.1 surround from HDMI to the digital/optical audio (i.e., the Playbar), so what you get in most cases is stereo with muted simulated surround sound that is NOT surround sound from your surround speakers. ... Wow! They sound amazing. I happened to have Lord of the Rings on, and as soon as the surrounds were installed, the difference was immediate and awesome. Much better than I expected. I already have a high end surround system in another room, so I thought my wife was crazy for buying me these Play:1s for Christmas. Actually thought about returning them. But now - no way! The Playbar with the Play:1 surrounds already sounds better than my other system. Just lacking the bass of the sub, but honestly, not a big issue, as the bass is still very good. Great job Sonos! Now just have a 50% off sale on the Sub, and I will be in home theater heaven.
What is the effect of converting the digital audio output from my TV to optical for connection to a Sonos Playbar?
My TV only has a digital audio output - if I use a converter to connect my TV to the Playbar, will there be any negative impact on what I get out of the Playbar? My TV Is a Mitsubishi DLP Model WD 65638.
With a child's bedroom above my living room (where I have my Playbar) I want to be able to schedule my Playbar to go into night mode at 7pm every evening and allow me to override that through the controller app of my choice on the rare occasions that I do want night mode off in the evening.
Sub disabled when Setting up SONOS CONNECT:AMP as Surround Rears Why are you disabling the subwoofer out when configuring the Connect Amp to drive non-Sonos rear speakers with a Playbar? I have a my own sub that i want to connect to the Connect Amp so that it can be driven along with the rest of the system. I do not want to buy another Sonos sub. Surely this would just be a software or firmware update that is easily achievable.

My TV (Toshiba 40SL412U) doesn't allow for muting of internal speakers unless a "Regza-Link" compatible surround sound system is attached to the TV. Of course, the Sonos Playbar does not appear to be Regza Link compatible. Is there a software update that could be done to fix this issue? Or does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this issue? I'm currently having to use 2 separate remotes (1 for TV, 1 for sattelite and Sonos) to combat the problem, which is annoying. I'm literally willing to open my TV and clip speaker wires if thats what it takes (although I haven't for fear that would detroy any pass through ability to the optical port)
I have read the advice - under no circumstances install the PB on a ceiling. The thing is we have the perfect place for it above the TV and am going to do it anyway What i want to know is, with the accelerometers determining the EQ by sensing the PBs orientation, will the system actually function adequately if hung from the ceiling 'upside down' using the wall mount bracket?
I have a Playbar and a subwoofer and the sound cuts out frequently when I am watching anything (PS4, Cable Box, Netflix integrated with Smart TV). When I watch it using the TV speakers it works fine. The Playbar is connected directly to the TV using the included digital optical audio cable. Please advise.
