Does anyone know anything about the NVidia shield ( android streaming device ) and the playbar. My Samsung flat-panel, naturally will not pass a D.D signal, via HDMI, so i purchased a high end HDMI component to address the issue. We get D.D signal now to the playbar, via cable however for what ever reason I can't get the D.D signal through the NVidia shield even though its wired through the same HDMI component as the cable, all via optical to the playbar.
Just set up a new playbar with new TV. then tried to connect it to our wired ceiling speakers (via connect:amp). followed various threads and made the change for the IP address for the connect:amp surround speakers, but now speakers are not connecting (no sound) at all and the room there were in has now disappeared. how do I start this all over again and get the playbar and 4 speakers all connected to TV sound. Thanks!
I'm not sure if there's a bug or just really poor engineering. It seems like a lose/lose, especially without a way to change sources from the hardware. TV Autoplay: OFF = If you're listening to music from your phone, you can have your TV on in the background, change channels, pause/un-pause video games, or anytime the sound might stop and start like when internet videos buffer, BUT you have to always use the Sonos app to switch back to the TV. TV Autoplay: ON = Your TV audio will resume after you stop listening to the music on your phone AND ALSO anytime you change channels, pause/un-pause video games, or anytime the sound might stop and start like when internet videos buffer... so just don't use the TV for anything when this setting is on or else music from your phone will disconnect.
Help, there is a ghost in my Sonos system adjusting the volume randomly up and down during playback? I cannot figure out what the source might be. At random times during playback the volume goes way down, then seems to come back to normal. It does not go UP beyond previous listening level. I cannot quite tell if volume change is in sync throughout linked zones, but the problem is occurring in multiple zones. I have tried different music services streaming an local library. I am unable to isolate the cause and frustrated with the experience due to intermittent nature. Recent updates/additions include iPhone app update, Sonos update 8.1, and an unsatisfying attempt to use Alexa. I've been trying to eliminate variables. Removed Alexa skill, uninstalled iPhone app, turned off iPad with controller app, and have reverted to using desktop application to control music. Is this ghost in the volume control some sort of Halloween prank ;)? I am looking for any suggestions on
For music, I already use multiple sonos zones throughout the house. Awesome. Now I would like to replace my Sonos-connect-connected 5.1 surround system (traditional receiver/amplifier, speakers, sub, cables) with wireless sonos speakers/sub products only. Whats stopping me is that the playbar/-base is the only products capable of decoding multi-channel sound... I watch movies with DD 5.1/DTS or listen to stereo music. The natural solution is to utilize two front speakers in a real 5.1 setup for stereo music and utilize all of them when playing 5.1 sound. It would be redundant to introduce a playbar/-base and have an extra pair of front speakers for music in the same room, idle:ing when wacthing a 5.1 movie.. This must be a very common issue for folks wanting to go all-in sonos, even for the home cinema. By the way: I almost quit using Sonos before when they held on to their app as the only controller for far too long. People use any app, e.g. Spotify, and want to cast their
Has anybody linked this TV with a Sonos playbar, sub and two Play 1's. I am using SkyQ with the Sonos system and Samsung tell me that, for this particular model of TV, it cannot be done. They have known about the problem for this specific TV for ages and are working on a fix. Please treat me gently as I am about a technologically able as a log and this is my first post.

Im mounting a playbar to a 55inch samsung tv in my basement that will be part a 5.1. Ive looked around and was planning to use the sanus mount that will attach the playbar to the tv but I have read a few reviews that say they were unable to make it look perfect. I want it to look perfect. I dont really want to mount it to the wall for a couple of reasons, 1 is the basement was just finished and everything is wired through the walls already...except for a soundbar. And the biggest reason is there is a pool table to the right and the tv will be angled that way some of the time...I also just like the way this looks. My question is have any of you been able to use this mount and make it look great? Any tips? Thanks!
I'm chasing the elusive Surround Sound for home Cinema for all media. I have a Playbase with 2 Play Ones as surround speakers. I have HDMI into the Sony Bravia TV from my amp (Sony STR-DN1040) and an optical cable out of the TV into the Playbase. When I stream from my Apple TV via my Amp I get 5.1 surround. I use the Apple TV to down mix DTS into DD5.1 and that works ! I route media from my NAS via the Apple TV & it works ! So, how to play Blurays ? I buy a Samsung K8500. I set it to down mix to DD5.1, pass audio & video from its HDMI-Main into the amp and all I get is PCM Stereo. After a lot of investigation, if I take the Audio stream from the K8500 via its Audio-only HDMI output, then I get DD5.1. But the player is only sending PCM when combined with the Video. I've contacted Samsung and their recommendation is to send audio from the HDMI-Audio to the Amp and Video from the HDMI-main to the TV. But I need them combined in the same HDMI lead to the TV. Can't imagine I'm the on
I'm about to chisel a cable run into a masonry wall for a new Samsung TV. My plan is to place a sound bar - and odds are it'll be a Playbar - beneath the TV. The Samsung needs the cables to exit the wall on its centre line within a few inches of the bottom of the TV. The sound bar cables will clearly need to exit a little way below that.
As a noob I apologise for asking something that’s probably been asked many times, I occasionally get tv audio through my system, 2 play 1’s, play 5, PLAYBAR and sub, I don’t want this to happen, the last time it did I somehow I luckily stumbled around till I fixed it but I don’t know how, can anyone give me the cliff notes to switching the audio between streaming and tv audio please?
HI, it is some time I want to clean my living room audio. I have a Samsung ks8000 tv a denon avr connected with 2 front speakers and 2 rear speakers. I own 2 play 1, kitchen and sleeping room. In the tv room I mainly like to sit on the sofa and listening to good music via the connected avr, but the tv is there so i also connected the tv to the avr. Lately, due to noise from the city and neighbours I discovered the multi stereo avr configuration that send same audio to front and rear speakers. I really like it a lot because it creates a bubble of sound and immersive experience. I just don't care about Dolby and surround because - in Italy there is very rare tv programs with it - I prefer to have immersive sound all the time, this allows me also to have lower volume at night. - Dolby surround are silent 80% of the movie Now my question is... it is worth to replace front and rear speakers with Sonos playbar and 2 play1? Connecting the avr to playbar as well? Will
I have a Playbar connected to my TV. I have a Connect:Amp driving speakers in my adjacent kitchen. My goal is to to use my Harmony Elite remote to start/stop the TV audio playing on the kitchen speakers powered by the Connect:Amp. I am able to start the TV audio playing on the Connect:Amp. I do that by running an activity that includes both the Playbar and the Connect:Amp. I do this by including both Sonos devices in the Harmony activity, and placing the Playbar as the first device in the list. The Harmony correctly creates a group and makes the Playbar the master device. Great! The trouble happens when I run the TV-only activity. The Harmony ungroups the Playbar and the Connect:Amp, and when it does so, the Playbar stops playing the TV audio. I cannot figure any way to get the Playbar to start playing the TV audio again. In fact, other than Autoplay when I turn on my TV, I cannot figure out any way to use a remote control to start the Playbar playing the TV audio. It s
After MONTHS of battling horrible audio problems, I just received a replacement Playbar. It appears the replacement unit did indeed solve the audio issues (crackling, cutouts, etc.) but unfortunately it seems the range for remote control is terrible. I need to be within 4-5 feet of the unit to adjust the volume! I've tried different remote controls, replaced batteries, etc. but this is the same remote that I've used on the previous Playbar that worked from at least 20-25 feet away. To change the volume we need to either get up and walk across the room or use the app, which is not exactly optimal. Is anyone else experiencing this with their playbar? I will say that when I opened the box to get my replacement, it had a big tag saying "refurbished". I'm a bit peeved that it looks like the refurbished unit sent to me was broken and I have to go through this entire replacement mess again. Ugh Anybody have additional troubleshooting ideas?
Hi Sonos Community! I'm in the process of setting up a home theater system where the input source is a Macbook, audio out is a Playbar, and video out is a projector. Can you provide advice on what's the best way for the Playbar to receive a 5.1 signal from the Macbook? Here's the setup I tried to use that doesn't work: 2016 Macbook Pro (use 'S/PDIF when available' is enabled) --> USB-C to HDMI adapter --> HDMI cable --> HDMI Audio Extractor (iArk 3x1 V1.4 HDMI Switch with TOSLINK Optical SPDIF & RCA L/R Audio Out, 3 Port HDMI A https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01K7BZ1XC/) --> TosLink cable --> Playbar. Despite sending 5.1 signal from my MBP, the Playbar only receives a stereo signal. The problem may be due to incompatibility between the MBP and the HDMI Audio Extractor. I've been troubleshooting with iArk customer support to try to fix the problem, and it sounds like they didn't test their HDMI Audio Extractor for use with Macs. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!
I AM seeking an in-home totally wireless audio/video entertainment theater product, employing a Wi-Fi VPN internet connecting pathway thereby distributing open source program content through a multi-channel speaker type 5.1or 7.1 signaling distribution architecture. Both audio music and movie video, in high def, with 3D, and 4K capabilities would be as simple as selecting a configuration screen with all the possible device options choices that the customer desires. The envisioned system intra-configuration choices would accommodate a (1) totally wireless, (2) hybrid (a mix of wireless and other), and/or a (3) receiver dependent backbone.
