Hello, Ungroup au Autoplay is not working on my system.....which in a sense is not really the problem. When it switches to TV, it plays in the Living Room (on PlayBar+ 2 Play:1) AND in the Bedroom (Play:1).....despite "ungroup on Autoplay" being selected ... My main issue is that when I pres on "Mute" on my TV remote controller, it swicthes off the sound in the Living Room BUT NOT in the bedroom ....confusing....annoying .... What do I need to do to have "ungroup" successfull or at least have "mute" working in both rooms ?
Hi..when mounting a playbar above a TV. The depth of the unit is 85mm.. when using the mounting kit, how much extra does this add to the total depth. I.e. How far from the wall is the front of the unit? Second question, I have seen the playbar recessed in a wall and like the idea of hiding the playbar behind a custom grille. Any thoughts on what clearance should be allowed around the playbar to avoid ruining sound quality?
I have a TV on the wall with a fireplace below it and a soffit above it. There really isn't room to mount it on the wall above or below without having the speakers fire directly into the wall or floor (see image below). So I wanted to hang the playbar upside down under the soffit as seen in the image. This actually points the speakers right at the listening area and seems to be the best option. But, it seems that the R/L channels might be incorrect if this is done? Is that still the case? Will SONOS add an over write feature to hard code what is right and left to the PB? Is there any other options here? For other people that have ceiling mounted the PB, did you use the standard wall mount or did you do something different to make sure it was secure? Thanks for the help!
So I have a Samsung 37" television that I can't get rid of because the space in the cabinet just barely holds this tv. I'm about to order a Playbase, the SUB, and two Play1's for a home theater setup. However, it seems like from what I've gathered, my television does NOT support Dolby 5.1 pass through from it's optical audio out. While I haven't been able to confirm this, the television has Dolby Digital Plus/Dolby Pulse and an optical audio out. So my question is, can I make this work? I've read some old posts online about using an HDMI switcher? How does that work and what are the best new options of these devices? For what it's worth, the devices that I would be using with the Playbase are the (i) television, (ii) cable box (iii) DVD player and (iv) a Roku. So does the cable box audio out go to the Playbase in my case and then the cable box HDMI signal go to an HDMI switcher? I'm confused, but would appreciate any direction before I spend all this money and throw out my receiv
I have a Sharp Aquos LC-40D68UT (purchased in 2011). It has a digital audio port, and seems to plug in fine to my Playbar; however, during Playbar setup, the Playbar does not detect anything coming from the TV. Wondering if the TV is simply not compatible (it's not listed in the non-compatible list thread; and speaking to Sharp customer service they weren't able to say definitively). Or wondering if there is some other common troubleshoot (which I haven't found in the manual or FAQ). Thanks
Hi, all - Just purchased a Playbar and stupidly assumed that my modern TV had an optical out. Would the following be an adequate workaround with 5.1? https://www.amazon.com/Tendak-Optical-Extractor-Converter-Splitter/dp/B017B6WFP8/ref=cm_wl_huc_item If it matters, TV is a Vizeo VIZP702VI-B3 Also have an Onkyo Receiver with an unused Optial out (TX-NR737) I did try Google and these forums, and wasn't able to find a response. Appreciate it!
Hi guys, This is my current set up: Projector ------> Samsung BD-H6500 Bluray Player (Via HDMI) SONOS Playbar -------> Samsung BD-H6500 Bluray Player (Via Optical Audio Cable) I am getting picture and SOUND through the projector and nothing via the SONOS playbar. I have tried changing the audio output on the Bluray to optical but can not find how to do so. I have tried changing the audio on the projector to optical but also can not find how to do so. Both the SONOS Playbar and the Blu-ray Player are also connected to the network. Can someone please help! Would be much much appreciated.
Ok my first question is 1. Is there anyway to turn off the Sonos speakers so you are not using the surroundsound every time you watch TV ? 2. I have the 5.1 setup and was curious when mounting the play 1 speakers should they be level with sitting area or can I mount them to ceiling and still get the great sound out of them?
I'm thinking of getting the new PLAYBASE, eventually with 2 x Play:1's for surround sound. But this would be the main source of sound for music in my fairly large living room. (44m2) Will this be enough? I'm used to having two spread apart stand mounted speakers and a sub. My reason for getting this is I want a more minimal and wireless connected set up, I wil have Play:1's or 3's in other rooms too. But will I be happy with the sound in the main room? I guess the other option could be to add 2 x Play:3's as front speakers and use these for music instead of the PLAYBAR, but this wont help with the minimal setup, or budget...
Note: Blind so formatting might be rubbish... Hi, I love my play fives but, when it comes to TV watching through them, either separately or together, I'm left with muddy speech which leaves me constantly playing with the volume in an attempt to pic out the words. Don't get me wrong, for music they are wonderful, but music is not the same as spoken word. My idea, which I'd love some help with as not really in the know, is to put a multi-band EQ between the TV output and the Sonos Play 5 in order to pick out spoken word in an analogue fashion as it would appear that the clear speech, which is boasted by the bar and base, probably won't be coming to the sonos play 5. I'm at my limits with this, even considering selling them. They are great, I just need them to do this too. Any advice about what sort of EQ I could device, an inline headphone one? a stand alone like on our old 80s hi-fis? I'd like to keep it fairly cheap if possible, so I doubt a preamp is needed. Thanks
My 84-year old father is tired of his Bose system for his TV. He's getting the Playbar and the Sub (the playbase will not work with his TV -- the base of the TV is too wide for the playbase, and a replacement stand will make it too heavy). I will set up his FiOS box into the TV's HDMI 1, and his AppleTV into HDMI 2. My question is about the audio from the Smart TV apps (Netflix and Amazon Prime). I assume I just need to make sure the FiOS box is off so that there isn't a "battle" for which audio to send to the Playbar. Any comments? I know he can watch Netflix through AppleTV, but he prefers the smart App and he also watches Amazon Prime, which his not available on AppleTV. Thanks!
https://www.instagram.com/p/BSEQmVCDlLt/ :) So happy!!! I can see the Sonos dream now, no wire changes just brilliant sound constantly. Turn on the PS4 and Dolby 5.1 no clicking anything just on straight away! The difference from watching a movie when it wasn't getting passed through to now is remarkable, I thought the system was doing a good job putting the vocals to the front and background noises behind etc but now everything just sounds more clear and goes around the room to make the experience perfect! The TV was a Samsung UE49KU6400 btw in case anyone is interested. I think this is the future, TVs are getting better all the time and hopefully all of them will have this soon - Sonos is possibly just ahead of the time?
Hi experts, help! I've managed to add my connect amp as a rear left and right channel for the playbar surround sound, both wired via a switch. Tv optical out goes to then playbar but I can't get it to play via the rears, whilst music is fine. Does anyone know how to fix - thanks!
I have 4 ceiling speakers in my leaving room (planning to get 2 CONNECT:AMP). When i listen to music i want to have the music on the 4 of them (grouped) but when I turn the tv on i want to have my tv rear channels on 2 of them only (planning to get the PLAYBAR for the front channels). Essentially wondering if there is an "autoplay" option on the CONNECT:AMP that will allow me to have 2 of my ceiling speakers connected to tv when the tv is on and connected to my living room audio the rest of the time (auto switch). Obviously I don’t want the music on the PLAYBAR (PLAYBAR for tv only) (too easy otherwise) thx a lot
Just bought a new house and they have installed speakers in the living ceiling and then there is a sonos connect in the storage cupboard. My question is, if I buy the sonos playbar, will it sync up with the connect wirelessly and then use the 2 ceiling speakers for 5.1 surround sound?
