Had an interesting experience today buying a white playbase. The first one I was going to buy had already been unboxed. The guy in the store was going to sell it for a discount. On inspecting it the white grill appeared to show the white speaker frame behind it very clearly in one part, as if the white plastic was more fused here than the rest of the grill. The second unopened Playbase I eventually purchased has a very slight dark spot on the left hand side of the grill. One of those annoying blemishes that I know I'll forget about but feels a bit disappointing considering this is a premium piece of hardware. Makes me wonder if full stop the white Playbases have a tendency out of the box to have imperfections here and there?
I have a Tivo Romio, LG OLED TV and Playbar that work great together. I recently swapped over to the Playbase, and ever since, I get a feedback popping noise whenever I switch channels, and sometimes the audio just goes away altogether. If I switch my Tivo to PCM from DD, the issue goes away. Is there a beta firmware I can test to see if this is corrected, or do I need to just return the playbase and go back to my playbar?
I've recently moved house and since I have set up by TV playbar it makes a content high pitch noise. I have turned it off etc. and it still persists. It sits in exactly next to thew same items as my other house. It is constant and really annoying so I have to unplug it when the TV is off. What else can I do?
Any references to differences when listening to a stereo PCM feed into a Playbase vs. a 5.1 single, assuming no additional sub or surrounds? Not sure sweating the lack of DD 5.1 signal from my TV is worth it if not actually having the additional speakers available. I understand the Playbase will matrix a stereo signal into a simulated 5.1, but any feedback if using an actual DD 5.1 feed is sonically better in a playbase only environment?
I just purchased a Playbase and am impressed with the product. However, I have noticed an oddity about the stereo balance of my unit, particularly when listening to music. There is a bias for the "center" of the sound to be just right of center. Meaning that lead instruments and vocals always appear on the soundstage to the right of the logo. It happens across a number of songs, many of which I'm familiar with and know to sound more centered. I've tried it with TruePlay off and on, and reset my controller and factory reset my unit itself. Is this due to the design of the Playbase (perhaps some trade-off made with the woofer) or is something else on my unit blown and affecting stereo balance?
I have a playbar, sub and 2 play1 home theater. The system is in the basement I would like to take maybe 1 or 2 play1 outside when I am grilling without the need to play the whole system downstairs. Then after I am done just connect them back to downstairs. Any advice on how to do it? Thanks!
Hi, I have the following setup : Xbox (connected via HDMI) LG 65eg960v (optical) Playbar. Playbar is also connected to a SUB and play:Amp configured as rear speakers. When I'm play film (on XBOX one) with dolby, sound is OK but NOT the center (voice). In other word, I have the sound ambiance and effects but can't hear actor speaking. Anybody have seen seen ? Any advises to solve ?
Hi, I have been facing the following problem since many months now and none of the solutions seems to work. My set up is Playbar connected to LG smart TV via Optical cable, 2 Play 1s and a Sub. Tv is connected via Wifi, Sonos Playbar is hard wired to the router. The problem of sound not coming at all happens a lot of times but following are some of the instances I have noticed it over and over again. When starting a video on youtube app on tv, Also again when a new video starts Also while switching apps on tv like to Netflix I loose the sound. To get back the sound I go to Sonos app and select a song (while the video on tv is still playing with no sound) and the sound comes back. Please help to resolve this?
I know this question has been asked before but I cant seems to be able to get the answer myself so hopefully someone can help me. I bought a Tomsenn HDMI 1.4 Switch Switcher Box from amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Q2D0AV8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I can get my Comcast box to broadcast through the playbar in Dolby 5.1 when I switch to my DVD no matter what I do it plays in Stereo. My blue ray player is BD-J5700 by Samsung. Is there something that i am missing or should I get a new dvd player. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sean
Using a Playbase on a Panasonic P50ST30. Have successfully turned off the speakers and have the challenge of removing the on-screen messages whenever changing volume. Followed the "Eliminating annoying messages on your TV when using a remote" link here for my Verizon Fios remote, got rid og the TV's messages but the STB fixed volume remote icon now shows up whenever the volume is used. I thought those steps were to remove these messages? Followed the instructions exactly.
XBox Scorpio will use Dolby Atmos. This will also be brought through to the existing XBoxOne and XBoxOneS. Spatial Audio in the form of Dolby Atmos will effectively include a height component for 7.1 surround across these systems. Which Sonos audio components are/will be ready for using this sound dimensionality? and is Sonos compatible with Dolby Atmos currently.
I have a SONOS Connect with 2 Play 1 speakers which I use as a very effective sytem for both streaming music and playing my own music collection. I used this system to connect to my TV via the optical output from the TV via an optical/analog converter (Connect does not have an optical input) but it did not work well as the 2 speakers have to be behind the viewing position for TV (not possible to change because of power outlet sockets and house being 100 years old). I am tempted by the Playbase which solves the positioning issue and it seems to do all that the Connect does - so, what do I do with my Connect if I buy the Playbase?
I am wondering if anyone has compared the PLAYBASE to the PLAYBAR - my vision for the PLAYBASE is somewhat defeated by the cheap two part plastic TV stand under my LG OLED65B6P that resonates and rattles atop the PLAYBASE. If anyone has a clue for an alternative compatible TV stand I would appreciate hearing about it. (?).
Grouped Volume Any ideas why sonos won't allow the volume control using a remote control on the Playbase won't allow you to lower the volume of a grouped speaker also. Use the Playbase with a grouped speaker in our open kitchen and would like the volume to go and down in sync.
Have a Panasonic TC-P50ST30 that apparently only passes the 5.1 signal unmolested from the internal tuner on the TV. Devices connected via HDMI to the TV set are downgraded to 2 channel when output from the TV's optical. Any workarounds besides a new TV others have found? Live with the 2 channel input to the PlayBase?
