I find the Sonos logo on the front of the Playbar unit to be downright irritating. Its going to be right in front of my face all the time that I am in the lounge room. There should be an option to remove the logo and replace with a blank plate Why do vendors always put banner ads on their equipment ? I paid to own it not advertise it.
Hi, I have been facing the following problem since many months now and none of the solutions seems to work. My set up is Playbar connected to LG smart TV via Optical cable, 2 Play 1s and a Sub. Tv is connected via Wifi, Sonos Playbar is hard wired to the router. The problem of sound not coming at all happens a lot of times but following are some of the instances I have noticed it over and over again. When starting a video on youtube app on tv, Also again when a new video starts Also while switching apps on tv like to Netflix I loose the sound. To get back the sound I go to Sonos app and select a song (while the video on tv is still playing with no sound) and the sound comes back. Please help to resolve this?
I just set up the PLAYBAR, SUB and PLAY5 and it works great for music but can't get it to work on the TV settings. My TV is a Samsung Samsung Smart TV model UN75H6300AF. Gone through the audio settings on the TV but no changes that I have made seemed to work. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated! :?
Hello guys & gals, After using Sonos for a couple of years now - and being very happy with it, I've recently decided to go for a full 'Sonos home theater setup' that consists of 2x PLAY: 1 and 1x Sonos: PLAYBAR. The installation proces went great, as expected, but I soon found out that my television (unfortunately) doesn't provide HDMI Pass-Through of any 'high end audio signal' - like Dolby Digital 5.1. So, I was stuck on 'stereo' and simulated surround, which sounds good, but isn't the reason why I bought this setup. (Only when I use the Netflix SmartTV application do I get DD 5.1). So, I am now looking for the best solution in my situation, and that situation is as followed. - Television: Samsung UE46F6500; - Blu-Ray Player: Samsung HT-F5200; - Decoder: Samsung SMT-C7140; - Chromecast 2.0; - Steam Link. The Blu-Ray player is connected to the TV via HDMI-ARC, and the other devices (decoder, Chromecast, Steam Link) via 'regular' HDMI. The TV is connected to
I have a Tivo Romio, LG OLED TV and Playbar that work great together. I recently swapped over to the Playbase, and ever since, I get a feedback popping noise whenever I switch channels, and sometimes the audio just goes away altogether. If I switch my Tivo to PCM from DD, the issue goes away. Is there a beta firmware I can test to see if this is corrected, or do I need to just return the playbase and go back to my playbar?
Curious what you'd do. Let's say you... - already have a 60" Samsung KS8000 with a more traditional 5.1 system (4 built in ceiling speakers, 1 center, and 1 sub) powered by an old receiver (2005 JVC RX-D302) - use all apple stuff already (iphones, apple TV, macbooks) - usual activities are watching tv... streaming, mirror, airplay music from your devices - want to keep the existing 5.1 system.. but don't mind trashing the receiver for something better - want to be able to incrementally add sound to other rooms as needed - ideally control everything from your phone without needing to interact with anything else (goal is to make it easy for grandparents to control/access) How would you go about getting started? I've researched Sonos connect, bridge, other receivers, but am thoroughly lost what my core first step should be. Thanks guys!
Hi I followed this article and got my samsung smart remote to control the volume but it only manage to do it to the only input I program it on, in this case my HTPC via HDMI but when I switch say to a watching TV, I can't seem to control the volume with the remote https://sonos.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2424/kw/playbase%20remote/related/1
I'm creating this thread as a place to share how PLAYBASE performs with the Samsung JS/JU line and whether audio issues may occur as it is the case with PLAYBAR - https://en.community.sonos.com/home-theater-228993/samsung-jsju-model-tvs-audio-issue-with-playbar-6736004 I personally own a 55" TV of this line (UN55JS8500).
Hi all, I have a playbar and a sonos connect amp and am trying to get the 5.1 set up to work in the UK. I'm a bit novice with the terminology but understand that the playbar doesn't support a DTS input but will support a Dolby Digital 5.1 input. I have a Panasonic TX-40CX680 and am trying to find out if it will output 5.1 from a 5.1 source via an HDMI input. About 1 year old. It appears to output in Dolby Digital 5.1 when using the netflix app. Assuming it will not output 5.1 via HDMI source - then I understand the options to get true 5.1 (with sub) are a) splitter cables to get multiple inputs to the playbar via optical cable. Downside is that the signals might get confused if the sources are active in standby b) HDMI siwithcher boxes - with the HDMI cables going in to the switcher with a single optical audio output to the playbar. My question is in scenario B - how will my TV audio (i.e. normal broadcast TV or the netflix app) get to the soundbar as they're
I have a Play 3 system in my kitchen. I want to use it to play music through my existing living room speakers that are connected to a Sony DN850 receiver. I have an RCA cable running from the Out line of the Connect to the TV In connection of the receiver. I have the receiver set to TV. I set up the Connect but all I see in the App is my existing room "kitchen". I want to create a "living room" room so that I can play music there. What am I doing wrong?
Is it possible to have the tv sound from the playbar playing in all the rooms? Like when you are streaming radio or spotify in groups. Testing out Sonos with a play 1 and 3 now, and is functioning well so far, and the sound is very good from such small speakers. So the setup will be, if the above question is positive, a playbar, sub and 2pcs play3 in the livingrom for tv, Play 5 for kitchen, 2 pcs of play 3 for the bathroom, and a playbar for the bedroom tv. Had a look in the faq, but did'nt get any wiser. Hope there are some people out there that can answer this :-) Best regards.
Hey guys. I am wondering what is the best setup for my entertainment system. I have a LG OLED B6 TV, a Sonos Playbar with surrounds and a Xbox One. My old setup was running the optical into the Xbox from the Playbar because my tv was older. Now with the new TV what is the best? optical to the TV from Playbar or Opitcal to the Xbox from the Playbar. Thanks!!
Apologies in advance if this issue has been reported/resolved already I found similar issues but seems like they were from a while ago. My setup is a playbar with two Play:1s. I use the sonos app to play all of my music and it sounds great. However, I use Roku 3 to watch HBO Go and Netflix and am really frustrated with the experience. For the Roku I purchased a ViewHD Premium HDMI to HDMI + Audio (SPDIF + RAC L/R) Audio Extractor from Amazon since my Sharp TV doesn't pass audio through. This lets me send the optical out to my sound system. (The previous sound system did a decent job with shows and I didn't have the cutout issues.) The problem I am having is with dialog when I watch shows on Netflix or HBO Go (e.g. Vice News). Specifically, I am noticing that when background music is present then the dialog on the rears comes through just fine. If there is no other background music (or background sounds) then the dialog cuts out on the rears completely. On the Roku I have the a
Hi I bite the bullet and try out playbase, I spent the over the long weekend and got surround sound to work with Kodi via passthrough and all my media that has surround sound works in 5.1, including Transcoding DTS to Dolby 5.1 Today it gone silent no matter what I do when I send DD 5.1 I get the video but audio is silence I check under about my sonos system and it said the playbase audio in is silence. everything else works though, TV, Netflix DD 5.1 works. What is going on do I have a faulty unit?
I love the new playbase, but it is repeatedly disappearing a short a room on my system. I can push the button to play on the playbase and it will play whatever was last in the queue, but I can't see or control it otherwise. And then it will reappear, or more often I've just added it all over again. If I turn on my tv it works as a speaker system but as a music streaming option it is a no go. Very frustrating.
Hi, I have the following setup : Xbox (connected via HDMI) LG 65eg960v (optical) Playbar. Playbar is also connected to a SUB and play:Amp configured as rear speakers. When I'm play film (on XBOX one) with dolby, sound is OK but NOT the center (voice). In other word, I have the sound ambiance and effects but can't hear actor speaking. Anybody have seen seen ? Any advises to solve ?
Hi, I have a kind of special setup with my Sonos Playbar since i am using a projector and the soundbar i mounted underneath it/above the couch where you sit to watch movies. Since the playbar is mounted under the projector, i have turned it so the sonos/grey bar is turning up so the cables run up toward the projector. But this makes it so when you sit in the couch facing the wall where movies are projected the left sound comes from the right of the playbar and vice versa. I know that there is a accelerometer in the playbar the adjust the left/right channel depending on how the playbar is turned, but as i cannot turn it around (because of how the cable management is set up, and how the speakers inside the playbar are placed with a slight angle (for now they face downwards so the viewer get the sound and not my ceiling)), how do i adjust this manually so the left sound is comming from the left speakers in playbar and vice versa for right? IF this is not possible to do manually/o
Hi All, I've been doing a little research on how to best create a Sonos set up for a home theater using a projector. Here's what I've got and what I'm thinking and would love to know if anyone has tried something similar with success or some other thoughts: AppleTV (4th generation, w/o Optical) BluRay Kinivio HDMI switch box Optoma H180X projector (https://www.optomausa.com/uploads/manuals/H180X-M-en-US.pdf ) I've currently got the AppleTV and BluRay HDMI input to the Kinivio switch box. Kinivio switch box HDMI out directly to Optoma projector. Decent computer speakers from projector's 3.5mm mini jack audio output. Here's what I'm thinking to do: Same Kinivio HDMI switch box as above, with its HDMI output to HDMI wireless transmitter such as the Nyrius Aries (https://www.amazon.com/Nyrius-Transmitter-Streaming-Satellite-NAVS500/dp/B005H3AU1Y/ref=cm_rdp_product ). The Aries receiver would of course then connect to the HDMI input of the projector. I would get audio out via
Hi So I purchased the playbase on day of release. Absolutely love it but I do have a slight concern. I previously had a sound bar with a separate sub. Because I watch most of my stuff late at night I would just leave the subwoofer off. But now with the playbase that isn't possible. Even with night mode on and the bass set to lowest.. there is still a definite 'punch' to sound. I'm just wondering how far this 'thump' travels though a big wooden tv stand, floorboards, a small gap then concrete. I hear the guy downstairs something's walking about and yelling at his cats and he must hear my floorboards freak if I can hear his.. Why haven't I approached him? Because he's mental. I try to keep interactions to a minimum. He keeps himself to himself though. I'm hopeful he doesn't hear any thumping but was curious Thanks for any info on this Jon
