Howdy, - Samsung TV UN50MU630D - DirecTV mini Genie - AppleTV - Sonos: 2, 5.1's Playbar Sub - The TV is 2 months old - 7.4 Sonos - In DirecTV Audio Settings I have Dolby Digital set to On. - In the TV I have HDMI Input Audio set to Bitstream, Digital Output Audio set to Dolby Digital - Optical cable plugged into the Soundbar and the TV. - HDMI from DirecTV to the TV - HDMI from Apple TV to the TV When I brought the TV home, didn't notice any problems. A couple weeks ago I started noticing sound problems, all on DirecTV. When we'd switch channels, sound wouldn't work. When we'd change channels, sound wouldn't come on for a minute or two. One time it happened I unplugged the optical cable from the soundbar, plugged it back in and sound worked. Tonight I recorded John Oliver on HBO, the recording didn't have sound. But I when switched to the TV speakers, sound played. So the recording definitely recorded right. When I switched to AppleTV the sound was fine.
I have both a Project turntable and a Samsung smart tv connected into a playbar via a optical audio switch. Have to manually turn the switch, but it works well. Also have a sub paired with playbar for TV. Can I add two play 3s as both the surrounds for TV AND a stereo pair for the turntable?
I have a 55” LG TV hooked up to my new sonos system (PLAYBAR, Sub, 2 play 1’s). I have noticed that the sound cuts out anywhere from 1 to 5 seconds. Sometimes it happens more frequently than others. I am currently watching HGTV and it is horrible. It only happens when I watch live broadcasts. Not on the DVR, DVD, or AppleTV. It also doesn’t happen if we rewind the program and press play. We have directv as our provider and have a HR24 box. I have an HDMI cable from the directv to the TV and optical cable that came with the sonos from the tv to the PLAYBAR. I have the audio out on the TV set to Auto as the only options are auto and PCM. I did a system diagnostics and the code is 7853537. I understand that this has been a common problem but would love to find a solution. The sound cutting out is very annoying. Thanks for the help!
I have a 2017 4K Samsung 75" inch television installed last week by geek squad. The TV sound output is channeled from TV to Samsung OneConnect using ARC cable (I believe). The optical cable carries the sound output from the OneConnect switch to the Sonos Soundbar. Sound works great for other streaming apps, xbox etc. However, when I stream youtube content on the youtube app in my television, the sound does not play always reliably. Sometimes it plays well and sometime it does not. I am aware that one can't stream youtube from phone on sonos, but that I am simply directing youtube playing on smartTV into playbar and 5.1 set up (2 play 1s and a sub). How can I fix this problem? Given it is happening only with the youtube app, I am wondering if there is a setting that I need to account for?
I have two Sonos 1 controlled by my laptop for playing music. I am considering purchasing a Sonos soundbar for my television. I assume it's relatively easy to setup so I turn on my TV and have the sound playing through my soundbar and using my two Sonos 1 as rears speakers. When I'm not using my TV will I be able to just turn on my laptop and play music through the Sonos 1 as before?
Hi everyone! I recently purchased a Playbar + Sub and I'd like to purchase some Play:1's and 3's to put them around the house and my patio, but only if they'll play the same audio from my TV as they would simultaneously with music. For example: if I'm hosting a football game I'd like for anyone to hear what's going on wherever the other speakers are placed. Is that possible? Thanks for any help!
Added a Playbase and two Play 1's for surround setup. They all work with TV but will not play music through the music library (external hard drive on network) or Sonos apps like radio stations. On the Sonos app the room is named office and when you pull it up there is a pic of a TV if that matters. Thanks for your suggestions.
I have just added a playbase to my TV today, and therefore disconnected the internal loudspeakers in the TV as required, and everything works just fine, except I can't hear any sound no more, when I want to watch a film on my blu-ray. Can I some how get the sound out through the Sonos Playbase, or must I turn the internal loudspeakers back on, each time I want to watch a film on my Blu-ray??? Can anyone help me with this/give me an answer? Thank You In Advance.
I have a very slight audio lag with my sound bar, but it is really driving me crazy. I have had the Vizio M55-D0 for about 6 months, never thought about sound synch issues when I first got it; sound from he TV was lackluster, but okay. I got the Sonos Playbar last month. Something seemed a little off with the sound, but I would have been hard pressed to tell you which way at first. After a week I decided something was certainly off. Found the sound delay option on Sonos, but that made the problem worse. Turns out the sound is slightly behind the picture through the Playbar. Double checked the Sonos Playbar setting and the TV setting to turn sound lag down to zero. When I turn the TV speakers on, there is definitely a noticeable echo between the Playbar and TV. Playing around, I switched the optical cable from (i) outputting from my TV to the Playbar to (ii) outputting from my 4k Receiver to the Playbar, and the audio lag seems to almost entirely drop away. Echo between th
I have a playbar with surrounds set up and it works well. I'm looking for the ability to use the surrounds just to mirror the center channel when I'm not watching content that benefits from surround. I live in a condo with a large central space and when I'm watching the news, for example, I don't need the surround and it would be good to "distribute" the sound around the room to the surrounds as I move about. Turning up the volume on the whole system to make it audible around the room makes it too loud by the TV and I'm concerned about needlessly disturbing neighbors. I can turn up the volume on the surrounds and this helps, but obviously it's not really what I'm looking for as it can only go so far and it's not really the part of the signal I want. Seems like this would be an easy feature to build into the app, but I don't see it.
I'm considering buying the new Apple TV. Is it possible to be sure it will pass Dolby Digital 5.1 through my TV to the Playbar before I buy? The TV is a Sony 55w828b. When using the Netflix app in the TV I get DD on the playbar, but using the Chromecast from the Netflix app on my phone I get stereo. I’m not sure if this is equal to the TV will not pass DD through the HDMI to the toslink. PS. I know that TV can not display 4K or HDR and the Chromecast is the first generation, not the round one.
I just purchased 2 Play 1's, a Sub and a PlayBase. I have connected the system successfully to my Sony TV, brand new also. Unfortunately, I am not getting Dolby 5.1 surround sound. I verified this on my Sonos App by looking at "Settings" and then "About My Sonos" which shows an "Audio In" note regarding my PlayBase that indicates "Stereo" not "Dolby Digital 5.1". But also the 2 Play 1's are not working. They connected fine, but there is no sound from them. I am not very technical, so cannot really troubleshoot anymore. Diagnostics 7822627 if anyone can help?

Hello, been using my Playbar for a a few days now and it's excellent!. One thing that would be handy though is "Source Lock" function, where the sorce you select in the app is always active. As it stands I can't have TV autoplay active due to it picking up signals when my son changes Xbox games. I turn the Playbar to TV on a night but for some reason it always changes back to Radio overnight, kids then complain they can't hear the TV in the morning. Either a button to dissable auto switching completely, or "Lock to TV" wod be very handy!. Cheers!.
Hi. I have been browsing the community for a fair bit now, and I am still curious about the Play 1s connectivity to the TV. As i got a Play 1 already and want to upgrade to another + a Playbar, I wanted to know if I would be able to hear my TV through the Play 1s by connecting them with the Playbar? or do I need to buy a seperate Connect for my Play 1's to work with my TV?
I'm wanting to buy a 2016 or 2017 4K TV and trying to decide between the following 65 inch sets: - Philips 65PUT7101 (http://www.westan.com.au/displays/domestic/philips-65put7101-65-uhd-slim-led-tv-powered-by-androidtm.html) - Philips 65PUT6800 (http://www.westan.com.au/displays/domestic/philips-65put6800-65-uhd-slim-led-tv-powered-by-androidtm.html) -The Sony Bravia 8500 series (http://www.sony.com.au/electronics/televisions/x8500d-series) I've looked through the megathread (https://en.community.sonos.com/home-theater-228993/home-theater-and-television-recommendation-megathread-6735001?_ga=2.118111817.1191939192.1495877296-2019962014.1495447765) and can't see any of them listed. Does anyone have experience with any of the above TVs and are you able to advise would work for my 5.1 setup of a playbar, two play 1s and a sub (i.e. pass Dolby Digital 5.1 to the optical output)?
Hello! We have purchased many Sonos products while living in the EU. We are moving back to the US soon, can we buy replacement cords for the units that have detachable cords? can we just use a plug adaptor for the rest? We have Play:5's, the small ones, the playbar, the bridge... Would be great if we can confirm we can use it all in the US. We love our Sonos! Thank you!
Can I use a Play:5 to send audio from my ceiling mounted projector to a Playbar, 10 meters away, wirelessly?
I have a big living room with a ceiling mounted projector, all the way in the back. It projects a 300 inch image on a large wall roughly 10 meters away. I was thinking about mounting a Play:5 speaker next to the projector it and connect the the two. Then I was hoping I could get the Play:5 to send the sound, wirelessly to a Playbar which I would have on the floor by the wall where the image is projected. (10 meters) I have great wireless connectivity in my place. Will this setup work?
Hi All! I was hoping someone could help me! I'm planning on buying a Connect for my AV receiver (Onkyo HT-S3705 home cinema set). Imagine i am watching television, can i use Sonos as a "remote" for the audio? So basically i want my AV connect to Sonos and then not use the remote of the AV + change the channels of my AV if i want to switch between listining music or watching television.
Is there a way for me to use a Sonos playbar with my Panasonic 7H58PH10UKA plasma monitor (it has no speakers). It is absent an optical audio input. It has 2 HDMI slots. Currently one is connected to the cable DVR box and the other to my wireless BluRay dvd. The TV has a slot for component audio in. It also has pne slot for PC input with serial and audio in pin for stereo plug. Of course, I'm interested in a solution that would give me the best sound. Thanks for your help.
Hi all, I just move my home theater system to a dedicated room so I purchased a playbar for my TV room. I only bought the playbar as a first step to see how much bass it produces before eventually buy the Sub. For regular TV use, the sound is great and the bass level is perfect but adding a sub would help from time to time (music, watching movies on TV). However, I have the impression that adding a sub would make the bass level to loud all the time so I would enable it only when needed. I understood that adding a sub to a playbar "takes out" all low frequencies from the playbar and direct them to the sub only. My question is : when the sub is switched on/off in the sonos controller app, does it impact the bass level on the playbar itself like if the sub is paired or not ? Thanks for your shares
I just built a new house. I had it prewired for inceiling speakers. For the media room, I purchased a Sonos Playbar, Sonos Sub, and Sonos Connect Amp. I am a first time Sonos user and the setup for the all three products was so simple, however I have ran into a small issue. In the media room, I have two inceiling speakers in the back of the room connected to a Connect Amp, I also have the Playbar and Sub as a zone. I want the two inceiling speakers connected to the Connect Amp to be a part of the same zone with the Playbar and Sub. I have not been able to figure out how to accomplish this so far. Is it possible? The way I have it currently is the Playbar and Sub is a zone and the Connect Amp is another zone. I can group them but I want to make them the same zone. Is this possible? T
