Is there any way for the Playbar to update the volume of the sound depending on the source ? E.g: When I stream from Spotify, Sonos put the volume at 20% and when I stream from TV, the Playbar set the volume at 40% ? The big problem is that when I listen TV, the sound is about 40% and when I launch Spotify the sound is too loud (because 40% is louder than 20%)... thank you very much
Totally new to all this and would like a little help with my playbar. I would like use my playbar with the TV, Blu-ray, games console and Sky box (soon to be Sky Q) and want to know how best to rig it all up. Should I buy an optical switcher to run everything to the Playbar or if I plug the optical into the TVm what ever the TV is playing will come out of the Playbar? Thanks in advance
I'm searching for a good HDMI Switch as my Sony TV does not pass 5.1 over its own optical output to my Sonos Playbase. I've read a few different forums and notice the Monoprice (https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=5557) one is highly recommended but it's not available in the UK. I've also noticed that some people have purchased HDMI switches only to find out that they also downgrade the audio quality from 5.1 to stereo. Before I buy the wrong one, can anyone recommend a high quality switch available to buy in the UK that definitely passes through 5.1 correctly?
I have had my Sonos playbase system for about two weeks. My father in law came in my house and hit the forbidden switch(which is taped and has a do not touch message). Its a random switch that cuts power to my TV, sonos, blu ray, cable box, and router. Ever since this happened I have to go inside my TV's menu and take it off optical and put it back on for the sonos to play. Everytime the TV is turned on this has to happen. Any insight on how to get this back to normal?
Hi, I want to convince my parents to buy the Sonos Playbar for me. But my parents want to know with which products the Playbar is compatible outside the Sonos brand, because I want to build my one smart home for my flat. I found some compatibel products under https://devicebase.net/en/product/sonos-playbar-soundbar/8717755771681 However, I would be very grateful to you if you would help me with a complete list of compatible products as I have to convince my parents of the purchase. Thank you, Bernd
Just added the SUB to my 5.1 setup (playbar + SUB + play:1 x 2). The sub is spectacular- tight, deep, just perfect. But I'm beginning to feel that the playbar is the weakest link. Firstly, I've got volume at 75% and it is not very loud. Is there any way to turn the gain up on the playbar? Any tricks to retuning to get it louder? Overall, I feel it isn't as pronounced as I'd like it both with music and HT. The surrounds are on just a bit higher than midpoint (~60%) and I'm just not feeling the presence from the front three channels. Any ideas?
Hi, perhaps an obvious question..but I have just bought the Sonos Sub to go with my Playbar and two rearPlay 1s to complete my tv setup. Now I want to test the system- what in your opinion should be THE film to watch and get the best depth and surround experience from? Thanks in advance. Paul
playbar: improvement with wall mount vs leaving on TV stand ? & Impact of adding a Sub to a sub-optimally mounted playbar?
I bought a playbar, before the playbase came out. The playbar sits on a big flat wooden chest in front of wall mounted TV - looks and sounds fine - better than the TV's speakers (Sony ~40" nothing special) - but honestly not a "wow!" audio experience... I now read that the playbar was actually meant to be wall mounted with the TV... OK good to know... I can remount the TV higher and get playbase on wall underneath it, but its a non-trivial undertaking and I fear it may look a little odd. So my questions to the community are: 1) How big an improvement can be expected from moving playbar from the chest it sits on to the wall behind it? Am I silly not to move it or is it a marginal improvement that's not worth the effort? Looking for that "wow!" audio experience from the playbar. 2) How big an improvement is the Sub when added to playbar system - and for extra credit - when the playbar is on a chest vs a wall mount.... Have been a long time very happy sonos customer and
So in regards to home theatre setups, almost all the issues seem to revolve around Sonos inability to be used in the configuration that the consumer wants. That could be that it can't handle current codecs, or that you have to use a playbar/playbase, that you can't setup front speakers, or maybe that you can't setup 7.1, 9.1 or whatever. So what if there was a device, say the size of a CONNECT that could help resolve a lot of these issues. Have it take optical or HDMI inputs, and handle a wider variety of codecs. You can then also bond it with a variety of the different sonos speakers to fit your personal needs. If you want to have P3 as front speakers and a P1 as a center speaker you can. If you want to replace that P1 with a playbar, you can. If you want to add side surrounds or 1 or 2 subs, you can. I don't know how difficult it would be to do something like this, but since all these devices currently work on 5.0GHz, and can be bonded with a playbar to play a specific sou
Grazie
I just saw an "Update" symbol in my controller which was running 7.4.1. This version fixed a DD5.1 drop out issue. So I ran the new upgrade and now I see the controller version has changed back to 7.4. Does this mean I'm going to have DD5.1 issues again and have to run only PCM?
Hello Sonos experts! I am looking to enhance my home theatre setup with with either a Playbar or a Playbase. My 40 inch TV is mounted in the wall of an alcove with a fairly long reach cantilever arm so we can swing the TV out and into the room when viewing. There is a shelf above the TV and and a unit below the TV. The unit plinth sticks out in the room approx 8 cm. I plan to place the playbar or playbase on the unit currently. All seems fine and dandy right? Problems I foresee are that to one side of the device there will be a small wall where the bay window is and that will probably block some of the sound. Maybe Trueplay tuning will help here. The main problem is that we currently pull the TV out of the alcove and angle it in into the room when viewing so that everyone can see it clearly. I worry that the sound will hit the back of the TV when we do this. I believe my options are as follows ** Playbar ** 1. Lay playbar flat and and as close to t
Hi. I'm trying to resolve issue where some Sky channels do not broadcast in DD5.1 and also a work around to the DTS blu-ray no sound issue. Is there any recommendations for a 4k hdmi switch that will upscale stereo and DD2.0 to DD5.1 whilst simultaneously being able to convert DTS to DD5.1? To complicate slightly I'd need solution to be available in UK
Hello. Today i bought my sonos system, the play base and 2 times a Play 1. Setting up was simple, it is working. My question is: Sometimes i like to listen to music only with the 2 Play ones. But i cant find how to disable de Play base in the Sonos app. I made one room, but when i select this room i dont see wich Sonos speakers are in this room. So i cant remove any checkmark of a speaker.
Sonos(5.1 setup with soundbar connected to TV with plays 1's and a sub) goes dumb for the first few minutes and automatically starts playing the sound when playing anything from TV (LG 65'' Class 4K Ultra HD Curved OLED 3D - 65EG9600). During the no sound period I see the app shows the source as TV. This also happens when the a new video after the first video ended. I have check the optical cable and i do see the red light and I assure no problem in the connections. Please help ? I submitted a diagnostic report #7874834 while the video was playing on tv and there was no sound. I dont have cable box to connect too. I have been facing this problem since a long time.
Sonos system has stopped (very spotty) working in 5.1. Best I can do is stereo by switching my output to LG sound sync (opticle out), when I usually have my output set at Audio Out (opticle/HDMI ARC). Running the 7.4 software and it has been a pain ever since the update. My diagnostic # is 7878359. Thanks
I'm having Lip Sync issues with my Playbase + 2x Sonos 1 connect to my Sky Q 2tb in UHD on the Football or F1. I cannot for the life get the lip sync in at all as cannot go minus on the Playbase settings or on the Sky box as need to go to a -0ms. I have Samsung QE65C8+the above and adjusted the sync on tv too. This only happens generally in UHD. Any thoughts?
I currently own a Samsung UN75MU8000F and have my Playbar, Connect:Amp, and two Play:1s set up in my family room. The Playbar + Play:1's are set up as a "surround sound" set up on sonos system. When playing normal TV, my surround sound works perfectly (aka all three speakers play sound). However, the moment I turn on one of my TV Apps from the smart TV's menu (i.e., Netflix, HBO, Amazon), no sound whatsoever comes out of any of my sonos speakers. At the moment the only way I can watch those apps with sound is to switch to using my actual "tv speakers" rather than the Audio Out / Optical option (i.e., the output that plays my sonos speakers). Any idea what would cause this issue specifically when switching to using my TV apps / how to fix is? Worth noting that before I installed the Play:1's and set up "surround sound" I had no issues with any of this...my plabar worked just fine no matter if I was watching regular TV or using HBO / Netflix / Amazon, etc. Any help would be
Whilst I've seen lots of older queries about resolving the DTS issue with hdmi switches I'm looking for some advice on what are the best hdmi switches to convert DTS to DD5.1 whilst retaining a high quality 4k resolution with fairly high (60Hz) refresh rates. To complicate this further I need something that's available in the U.K. Any suggestions for some decent hdmi switches at high / middle / low end budgets? Thanks
