HOW DOES SONOS BEAM WORKS

Maybe it´s a silly question but i want to be sure. I use my play station 4 as my main entertainment system (games, DVD, netflix, spotify etc.). It´s obviously connected to my TV through HDMI. My question is: will sonos beam work? will i hear all the content from my ps4 on sonos beam instead of my tv? I´m worried that only the audio on tv channels is the one i will listen.

Thanks for the patience

As long as you connect the Beam to a port on the TV marked “HDMI ARC”, you will hear sound from other devices plugged into your TV. Most modern TVs have such a HDMI port (only one, though).

If your TV does not have an HDMI ARC port, you can connect Beam to your TVs optical out port using the supplied optical to HDMI converter.

For best sound results, set your TV to sound passthrough mode and ensure that the PS4 outputs Dolby (compressed) sound.

In my experience HDMI-ARC on a Beam only (so stereo) will always work. My older (2011) Samsung had a bit of a problem getting surround from the PS4 though (which I solved, see below), while my 2019 Samsung has no problems at all (both connected via HDMI-ARC). As I see you do not mention surround, this may not be a consideration for you.
