We are looking to purchase the Arc and Sub, but also want a set of One. Do we need to use the One SL with the entertainment set or can we use the One pair?

Hi @saragal2

Using Sonos One SL’s (x2) with the Arc are the recommended speakers. Using the Sonos One (x2) would be a waste of funds as the Arc handles voice assistance. Voice assistance in the Sonos One when used as surrounds with an Arc or Beam is disabled.

Using the Sonos One SL’s as surrounds makes them part of the Arc and cannot be used independently. It is possible to un-bond them from the Arc to be used as standalone or stereo pair speakers. The process is very tedious to bond, un-bond and finally re-bond to the Arc.

The One SL’s can be set to play in full stereo for music along with the Arc and auto switch back to surround mode when music listening is done. Let us know if you have additional questions.

Cheers!

AjTrek1 so if we aren’t ready to buy the entertainment set yet but we want the Move and a pair of One, when we are ready to buy the entertainment set, will the One speakers we have work with the SL that will be used for the surround sound or will they be separate? So if we want to play music, will the SL and the One speakers play the same thing or will the SL speakers only work when the surround sound is on for the TV?
