Atmos with Arc with smart TV

Hi,

I've tried searching, but everything is linked to getting a Nvidia shield or Roku box...

Can I use the Sonos Arc (without hdfury arcana) direct from a smart TV without eARC?

I know it won't be lossless Dolby Atmos, but will it be 'OK'? Or is the Sonos Arc a waste of money without eARC?

Or shall I just invest in an Nvidia shield (even though it doesn't do anything different to my smart TV - other than eARC support)

What specific model is your TV? Do you plan on using any other external media devices other than an Nvidia Shield? Do you watch Blu-ray discs or do you primarily use streaming services?
