Sonos and Google Assistant - setup in Google Home App or Sonos App

My Google Home app allows me to connect to my Sonos account and add my speakers (Play One SL). to the “rooms in my home” However, the Sonos App ALSO has a “Google Assistant” option.

Are there differences in the two methods?

Hi @Issaquah.

Thank you for reaching out to Sonos Community.

If you only have the Play one SL the Google assistance will not going to work since your speaker doesn't have any microphone.

Google assistance is a built-in feature for Sonos.

So basically all the voice command should be coming straight to your google home.

HI Mark

Thanks for the reply, but my question is slightly different. When setting up the link between Google Home and the Sonos, you can go into the Google Home app and connect the Sonos via “Works with Google” section. However, in the Sonos 2 app under “services and voice” has an option for “Google Assistant”. Which is better?
