I switched all of my Sonos devices at my upstate home this weekend from Alexa to Google Assistant (2x Beam and 2x Sonos One) and everything worked great and controlled all of those as well as my 3x Connect:Amp devices. The Beam CEC control to turn on and off TVs with Google works great! I attempted to update the Beam and Sonos One at my apartment when I returned to the city and when I run through the process, the Google Assistant app fails to find any devices. My apartment setup has the same Sonos account with the latest firmware updates, same Google Account (which is configured for two homes) and is on the the same UniFi networking equipment (different SSIDs). Are there any known limitations with a single Sonos account at multiples homes? There shouldn't be any limitations on the Google side as I have Ecobee thermostats at Google Home locations. The only other difference is that that I don't have any "real" Google products like a Home Mini at my apartment, so I'm wondering
Hi, I now have Google Assistant on my Sonos Beam but the assistant recognizes the Sonos speaker as a TV. So now each time I say “Turn off the Bedroom TV” it doesn’t know which TV to turn off because it thinks the Sonos is a TV.
Hi, after I add Google assist to my Sonos (2 x one + playbar), system unexpectedly turn volume to maximum. After I turn volume down, system several times bring volume to maximum. I’m sure it wasn’t someones mistake or joke. The same situation repeated today - but unfortunately with only small kids and grandma, without ability to turn it off :/ I lock max volume to 50% as temporary prevention, but I’m hope your looking for better solution for this problem. I am trying to set a recurring reminder on Sonos One using GA. I set it using my voice and set the time and actual message. However, when it reminds me, it only gives me " I have some reminders for..." not the actual reminder. I am using the same google account on GA and Sonos. I read about "show personal results" and have that selected in GA so it should work. Maybe this feature isn't working yet?? or will only be with voice match? It seems like it should work since I am using the 1 same account with both GA and Sonos. Other than this, the integration works great. Thanks
Hi, I used to live in the UK and bought my two Sonos 3 speakers there in 2015. I moved to the US in 2017 and despite changing my location on my online profile and updating everything, I am unable to access services here in the US, specifically the google assist voice control (it says your country doesn't support this - although US is the only one to support it. I also can't get the Sirius XM station to come up in the service option. I've deleted the app and reinstalled but that doesn't do anything. I've even got 'Controllers' - new ipad and iphone that I bought here and they don't have the service on. Can anyone help.
Ok, Sonos MOD EDIT: PROFANITY. I'm from Ukraine and I bought two Sonos One and planning to buy Beam in the future. I bought it even though Alexa do not work with Russian language at all as I heared that there will be Google Assistant which is working perfectly on my Android device. And now I MOD EDIT: PROFANITY can not activate it, as it says that's it's not available in my country. Again it's working perfectly on my Android device. I can assure you it understands Russian perfectly, moreover almost everyone person from post USSR country understands Russian and can talk on it. So what the MOD EDIT: PROFANITY problem to activate it as it was done by Google themselves? I bought two Ones, a Sub and was planning to buy Beam. Not planning now for sure. My Beam is acting glitchy again. Voice command to ask Spotify to play was working the other day now it isn't. It says "I can't do that here but you can ask me to play it on one of your other devices." However, if I use Spotify Connect, it works. All other voice commands work.
When I tell Google assistant 'lights out' either on a google home or on my phone I get the response "ok turning off 15 lights" and every light in my house turns off. When I give this same command to any one of my 9 sonos ones I get "ok. Turning off the kitchen light" or "ok turning off the livingroom lights" etc. It only turns off the lights in the same room as the sonos one to which I am speaking.. It's completely useless. If I'm going to go room to room telling Google assistant to turn off lights before I leave the house I may as well just use the switches..
When is use Google Assistant and say: "Play Radio Paradise on Kitchen Sonos" the assistant responds "Sorry, it looks like the requested content isn't currently available on TuneIn" If I ask Assistant to play it on my Kitchen Chromecast it works fine. This has been happening for several days now. I couldn't figure out where to report this as a bug?
Where in my Sonos options do I select the country? Or is this a case of needing to use a VPN temporarily? I would like to change it to the USA so I can enable Google Assistant. I imagine this means I'll start hearing dates in the wrong order, and temperature in fahrenheit, but I can put up with that for the time being until GA is launched in Australia.
After 5 minutes with Google Assistant controlling my devices in the house it’s already a mile ahead of Alexa who was always rather clunky. And the app was terrible. However one of my favorite things to use my bedroom Sonos One for was to ask Alexa to play Thunderstorm sounds while falling asleep. When I ask Google assistant the same thing all I get is “Alright, Playing lighting and thunderstorm sounds on Google Play Music...Sorry it looks like the subscription to your for* Google Play Music is not supported.” A standard google home device plays ambient sleep sounds without a Google Play subscription. Alexa was kind enough to do the same. But does this mean I’d have to pay for a Google Play Music subscription in order to simply have ambient sounds? I don’t think it’s too early to start having basic expectations of our smart home devices. Turn on lights, tell me the weather, play white noise seem like they should be basic freebies to me. And of all the music services, Goo
Will Sonos ever allow my Sonos Speakers to be added to my Google Home Speaker Group? I have my Sonos One speakers in my bedroom working with google assistant, and able to play my Spotify play lists through google assistant commands, and that is a huge improvement. However, I have all my other sound systems in the whole house working together through a google home speaker group I named “All Rooms” - EXCEPT SONOS. I cannot add them to my speaker groups in the Google Home app. If this is a marketing decision, I think it will backfire, since apparently the other companies are allowing it. I hope there is either a trick I am missing, or otherwise a software patch will correct it. Ideas?
I am located in the USA and I get the error saying its not available however a few days prior it would allow me to add the service but I never completed the setup. Am I missing something here? Don't see a location or language setting that would now cause this error.
Ive just tried to change radio stations using assistant and now suddenly my speaker isn't available anymore eventhough it was just playing. This is just a recent example but there just seems to be endless issues and incomplete functionality with assistant. Nobody from Sonos is explaining what's happening or why we had to wait so long for something so bad.
Hi all There have been a lot of requests for the ability to group Sonos devices via voice command to Google Assistant. Whilst this isn't supported yet by Sonos, there is a way of doing this if you have a Logitech Harmony Hub type remote. Here are the steps I've tested: 1/ Open the Harmony Hub App>Harmony Setup; 2/ Add your Sonos players as devices; 2/ Next create an Activity - As an example, lets call this 'Group Sonos'; 3/ Click on Sonos Speakers and then using the link select the specific Sonos devices that you want to group. You can also set the default volume at this stage; 4/ Please link your GA and your Harmony Remote accounts under Add Device>Works with Google>Harmony. If already linked then please Remove the link in the Google Home App and relink. During this process you have the ability to define 'Friendly Names' - there doesn't seem to be a way of doing this any other way. I created 'Group Sonos' and 'Sonos Everywhere' as friendly names; 5/ Save the Act
Just got a beam and sub for my HT and a few times in the last couple of days GA has activated when some on the TV says something like "okay. Cool." It's decidedly uncool because it lowers the volume to the point of not being able to make out dialog for what seems like eternity (probably 10s)

When I ask Google to play a song on Spotify through my Beam, it will say: "OK, here's [song]. Sorry, it looks like you haven't set up Spotify on your Sonos app. To play from Spotify, link the same account on both Sonos and Google Assistant." I have linked and unlinked the same account on both the Sonos app and the Google Assistant app a number of times, and still can't get it to work. Is there something I'm missing?
Should I be able to set my Sonos speakers as default in Google Home? I recently set up Google assistantships on my One, and it works fine independently. In my living room I have a Play:5 with a google home mini on the shelf above it. I’d love to set the Play:5 as the default speaker for the google home mini but it doesn’t come up as an option. Both of my Sonos speakers display in the Google Home app. Am I missing something or is it not possible? Is it possible on Alexa? That may be enough to switch. I held out to wait for Google Assistant to come to Sonos but Alexa seems to be a more compatible ecosystem, especially with Google forcing Works with Nest into Google Assistant... Many thanks!
Hi, I have a Play:3 I'm controlling with a Google home mini. In the home mini we use voice match so it recognizes who is taking (my wife or me) so I wonder if it's possible to link the sonos to two different assistant accounts so it plays my or my wife's music depending on who is taking. Do you know if it's possible?
First let me say that I’m a Google fan. I’ve sold my soul to Google. And I’m a Sonos fan with Sonos everywhere inside and out, but only one Sonos smart speaker so far. So I waited patiently as long as I could for Google. Of course, in the long meantime I went ahead and started using Alexa. It’s not perfect, but not bad. Now that I’m trying Google, I’m completely disappointed. Not only has it been harder to set up, I’m finding it more limited. I can’t even access SiriusXM, just Pandora and Spotify. I think Google has completely blown it in the smart home arena. During the long wait, I’ve ended up buying Alexa speakers for my kids’ homes and an Echo dot for my bedroom. Does anyone have something more positive to say?
I've only been using Google Assistant on Sonos for a couple of days, but I'm noticing that there's a frequent and variable response delay. Often why I say "Hey Google" plus a command to do something, like turn on a light or play some music, there's a delay of up to 10 seconds before it responds. Other times the same command will respond quickly, similar to the speed I'm accustomed to with my Google Home speakers or with Alexa. This delay is unpredictable but happens quite often. There was no similar delay with Alexa on the Sonos One, and the speaker has a good WiFi connection. There is one common pattern to the delay: normally the white LED on top of the Sonos One brightens as soon as I say "Hey Google", stays bright while I speak the following command, blinks for a second or two after I finish speaking as the command is being processed, then then action happens while Google Assistant speaks the response. When there is a delay, the white LED stays bright when I finish speaking and d
