Sounds fading in and out from Surrounds

I have had this problem on and off for 1 year now but it has recently resurfaced again.
My setup with TV playbar, sub and a pair of play:5s.

When watching the TV, the surrounds just fades in and out with crunchy noises at times.

Not sure what the issue is?
