Dolby Digital with Sonos Beam

Hello.  I have a Sonos beam connected to my Sony xbr 55x900f.  I am connected to the hdmi(arc), but when I go check the system status on the Sonos app, it always says that the audio is in stereo pcm…..the audio settings on my tv is set to Dolby digital, but the Sonos app always display stereo.…. I am just trying to get the optimum sound from my beam!!   Thanks for helping me!!

Just make sure the TV Show/Movie on whichever device you are using is outputting the audio in Dolby Digital 5.1. It will normally state this on screen. Check that the TV is not set to DD+ (but that’s only if the Beam is the older gen1 version - if it’s gen2 then DD+ is fine to use).
