I have a sonos connect hooked up to a multi zone AVR that powers numerous sets of speakers around the outside of my house. Some of the more distant listening areas are past the range of my WiFi despite my efforts to boost its coverage.

For other reasons, I have my home router set up with a VPN server that allows me to remotely connect to my home network as if I am in the house. When logged into this vpn, I have control and use of all my networked devices just like I would if I was directly connected to my home network. Except Sonos. It just hangs at the ‘you need to be connected to a wireless network’ screen.

Is there a workaround for this?? Obviously this would solve my WiFi range issue when needed. My preferred controller is an iPhone 7 and all my numerous Sonos devices are hard wired if it matters.
