There's a great third-party app called Sonobit. I use it on my Apple Watch and love it. https://geo.itunes.apple.com/us/app/sonobit-remote-for-sonos/id1023126989?mt=8

The sonobit was great, but since the last update it is totally unreliable!!!!

You may want to contact the developer if issues. There are a number of other apple watch apps as well. I wouldn't think latest update would have had any effect on the Sonobit program.

Sonobit is still working OK for me on iPhone and iPad both running iOS 10.1.

Check out ZonePlay. Good online reviews. Off to try it myself. BTW, come on Sonos???

Wish there was a first-party Apple Watch app.

Just checked out this app and the first review isn't exactly encouraging:
I purchased this app so that I could control my Sonos system from my Apple Watch. What a disappointment! The app does not seem to have a native watchOS app, since it takes a long time to startup. Once I first opened the app, it took several attempts to start Sonos. When I went to Groups. none of my rooms were displayed. I am only able to start/stop Sonos 10-25% of the time, and when it does start, there seems to be a 5 second latency. I just wish Sonos would create their own app.
