The new Sonas app is awful. It typically will not connect to music even when the music is playing, hence I cannot switch the music of,

but worst problem is trying to control the volumes of the various sonas speakers. Even when I adjust the volume in the app it mysteriously changes itself back to the other setting.

trying to adjust volumes is almost impossible and VERY VERY frustrating.

fthis app should not have been released in such a dismal and poor state. It really damages Sonas reputation and brand.

when will these problems be fixed..?

WTF is wrong with Sonos? My business has now been without music for a month while I try to get my products connected to wifi. Several calls, an email to ceo with out response. It’s unbelievable and pathetic. Does anyone get any answers from these monkeys?

I do agree!!

Dear Sonos CEO,

I sincerely hope you read the customer feedback and do not become another “Boeing”.

Reading many of the comments, as I have the same problems, I am gobsmacked, why and how come you even release such products. Do you have a process for validation prior to releases ?

I do not want to add any fuel to the fire, but you kill everything you stood for.

Don’t stay silent, get loud and communicate with those who are loyal to the company. Change the company before its too late.

Well said. If you go on the Sonos website you have the opportunity to email the CEO directly. I’ve done this. But needless to say I have had no reply or acknowledgement. The company is clearly in free fall under his “leadership” and he should be ashamed of what he has allowed to happen. The fact that Sonos support are not responding as well worries me further. No one seems to care or know what to do to solve all the problems that they have caused.

Replies are coming out in response to the emails to the CEO but they are pretty much a cut and paste of the press releases.

The poor response from support is just another indicator that Sonos got this wrong they have clearly been overwhelmed by the volume of calls.

I’m extremely disappointed in the new app.  How did Sonos let this out of beta testing and into production?  Obviously the tech team completely dropped the ball on this implementation.  It’s hard to believe that Sonos could be so sloppy and put out such a shoddy app release.  I was an application programmer at one point and I would be completely embarrassed to have my name and work associated with this piece of junk app.  Sonos, please roll back to the old app and save face on this disaster immediately.

The new Sonos app is totally rubbish! Don’t Sonos test these things out before releasing them to their customers?

Can we have the old app back please?

I rarely post. Agree with all that has been said. I will add that I think I speak for every one of your customers when I say that we don’t care about how pretty the UI is for Sonos. We just need to find the speakers, find the music, turn it up, turn it down. Just like we had before. We need Swiss Army knife design.

I had a random incoming call from my boss on Zoom today. I jumped on the Sonos app to turn down the music but the app was listing the wrong room. I couldn’t turn it down.

We all know the old app wasn’t perfect, but it could at least be available to turn down the music 99% of the time. Today, I had to unplug the speaker from the wall and then call my boss back.

i had the same...I had to take a call in the street because i couldn't turn off Sonos...ridiculous!!

It's the middle of June, and the new app is still a nightmare. It only connects intermittently, changing rooms is haphazard, and even controlling the volume is an adventure. More than half the time I try to play music, I get a “something went wrong” message. I have 10 Sonos speakers - a significant investment of cash and time - and I’d gladly get rid of them all for an alternative platform that works. It's what Ill need to do if Sonos can't get its * together. I need to start looking at Sonos alternatives now. Any suggestions?

I’ve just noticed Sonos message on the web about the app.
Seems that they are working on it. I hope they will learn from this c@ck up and test the app before releasing any future updates.

I hope so too but the message has been there 10 day and no progress. The new app is sooo far off the mark that they could at least allow customers to use the old one until they have something better. Many people have suggested this with no response. Indeed complete radio silence except for trying to sell new speaker. I wonder if everyone except the sales team had gone on holiday.

Anyway, rant’s over.. bottom line, if this doesn’t get fixed soon I ‘ll be looking at an alternative setup/system.

I started this particular process weeks ago. I looked at BlueSound, I tried Roon.. was pretty decent, and was able to use my existing Sonos setup, but the monthly fee was a bit of a letdown.  I eventually settled on using WiiM. It’s players hook up to powered/unpowered speakers or audio components, and all become Google/Alexa capable. Since I’ve got a good Google ecosystem going in our house, it only made sense to extend our audio system in this direction. I’ve now completely replaced my entire Sonos environment, and couldn’t be happier… an app that actually works, and is able to play local music from my library or stream from my favorite music services, an app that comes up and identifies all my devices right away… timers and alarms actually functional. Go figure!

Sonos? Where are you? Are you addressing those issues? Did I miss a statement or are you really hiding 🙈? I cannot use my system anymore with this app. It does not load, it crashes, it doesn’t show playlists, it stops playing in the middle of a song 😭 this is terrible

This is the same thing my Sonos app would do most of the time. If it wasn’t lagging terribly after starting, it would just sit on this “loading” screen. The other half of the time, my devices would appear/disappear randomly… and my local music library would blink in and out. Frustrating that when you wanted to control the volume and the device wasn’t present in the app, that the only recourse would be to make the trek to the speaker to manually change it.  I did find that the Windows Controller software was much more stable. It could see all speakers, control what music gets streamed, had zero issues finding my local library share (yes, on SMBv2/3), and control volume. It’s a real shame they decided to go this “courageous” route. I just have a different name for it.

Further to my comment above (and I agree with the other comments in this thread), I am lost to find on this terrible new App how to turn on the alarm function for wake-up music.  Can anyone help me?

This application “update” has stripped much of the value out of the app and, as a result, much of the value out of the hardware we have spent much money acquiring. The hardware has no value without the app and the app is much degraded. It is a remarkably incompetent piece of work totally untethered from user value. Putting aside the top-heavy design that makes it very, very slow to load on Android, even when it works it has little value compared to the “old” version. My advice to Sonos: Never leave your application developers alone, unattended by adults -- they will inevitably want to change something, maybe everything, just because they can.

Everyone struggling clearly, I can’t control anything with app. Renders it useless.

so the question is are they going to bring old one back while they work on new one or try to work out bugs? Any word from Sonos or tech support at all?

The new app is total rubbish. I’m so disappointed in every way. Sonos fix it now !

I’m saddened by the new app because the previous version was not perfect but far more intuitive. I miss the navigation bar at the bottom and many more of the old features.  The new app is awkward. Please fix it.

What are Sonos doing about this…completely ruined a perfectly good system

So, haven't checked out this community for a couple weeks...and well...the same issues exist...nothing is seen to being done...what a dreadful company Sonos is.

We've all spent 000's of €, $, £,  and still we have to live with an app that they have ruined without a word of apology,  no eating of humble pie and reverting back to the old app..just disgraceful.

Does anyone know when the broken app will be fixed and fully functional? I haven’t been able to use my Sonos system since May. It’s insane that Sonos WILL NOT release it’s prior app version for iPhone users so we can actually use our systems—which many of us paid hundreds or thousands of dollars for.

NOT ONLY did Sonos approve the release of a broken app so that their customers can no longer us the expensive systems they paid for (a form of malpractice)—Sonos also told their tech support reps to LIE about it. It took 4 separate phone calls with tech support (1-2+ hours each), for one of them to finally admit the app is dysfunctional.

Obviously, I will never buy or recommend Sonos again. That’s a gimme. BUT I should be able to use the system I paid for.

Where is the fixed app? Where are the announcements for customers with updates on the situation? Where is the compensation?

Don’t be greedy, Sonos. It will bite you in the _______ in the long run.

Can I please have my money back? The new app renders my system totally unusable and therefore unfit for purpose.

I have seven Sonos products - so let’s call it £3,100 - which is more than fair. Please contact me here and I will send you my bank details.

Hi All,

I'm afraid I can't add anything other than my voice.  My experience since the new app "appeared" (I don't recall chosing an upgrade) has been terrible.

I think I have experienced all the problems already listed. I'm most disappointed by my complete inability to find the Port and linked turntable.

The absolute last thing I need when I listen to music is stress.  The new app creates that at every step, whether that is listening to the radio, connecting to Spotify, linking rooms, adjusting volume etc, etc.

I am so disappointed in Sonos.  I have gone from someone who used to show off about how cool the system was to being embarrass because I can't change the bloody track.

I do hope that Sonos are listening.  I am getting fed up trying to listen to anything anymore.

Here's hoping for a response and update.

The silence from Sonos is deafening.

And they have the cheek to churn out marketing email after email.

Sonos, when will you fix the new app? It’s absolutely terrible. Massive delays when changing songs, volume & speakers. Additional music services don’t work.

is it possible to use the old app?

Agreed - it seems to have a complete mind of its own. Says it’s playing something on one speaker but it’s not, can’t get to the other grouped speakers with what is actually playing. Can’t seem to get any control of what is and what is not playing, adjust volumes

Been on Sonos from very early days, loved it but this new version of the app, with all it promised, is awful. If I can’t control my music, which speaker is playing (out of over 10 speakers) and what the volume is, what’s the point of Sonos.
please fix asap

Same for me. I’m about to dump it. Won’t play. Won’t stop. Won’t change channels/music. It’s gone crazy.

Absolutely terrible app..... 2 months since the update and I still can't access the app. It comes up with an error 1000. Which doesn't exist in its fault codes.. how can a company as large as your, upset so many of its customers????

Can’t you just select the speaker you want and then press pause? All you have to do it drag up from the bottom.

no,no pause,no stop,no volume control...infact nothing worked at all..had to close all apps and start again with Spotify after call had finished..mind you i was surprised i even get as far as to play a song on Sonos...

New app is unfit for purpose. The entire system is now unusable. Sonos need to fix this otherwise the game is up!

FIX THIS NOW!
