Can sonos please fix the app and/or at least let people know what's going on? My partners phone auto updated the app and now she canât access our sonos system, our music library or control our sonos devices. Has sonos been hacked or been the victim of cyber sabotage or something? Whatâs going on and how are sonos going to fix this situation? shouldnt sonos immediately roll back the app to a version that actually works?
Â
The new Sonas app is awful. It typically will not connect to music even when the music is playing, hence I cannot switch the music of,
but worst problem is trying to control the volumes of the various sonas speakers. Even when I adjust the volume in the app it mysteriously changes itself back to the other setting.
trying to adjust volumes is almost impossible and VERY VERY frustrating.
fthis app should not have been released in such a dismal and poor state. It really damages Sonas reputation and brand.
when will these problems be fixed..?
WTF is wrong with Sonos? My business has now been without music for a month while I try to get my products connected to wifi. Several calls, an email to ceo with out response. Itâs unbelievable and pathetic. Does anyone get any answers from these monkeys?
So, haven't checked out this community for a couple weeks...and well...the same issues exist...nothing is seen to being done...what a dreadful company Sonos is.
We've all spent 000's of âŹ, $, ÂŁ, and still we have to live with an app that they have ruined without a word of apology, no eating of humble pie and reverting back to the old app..just disgraceful.
I'm going back to the old 'gold' app . The new 'black' one is useless . Every time I try to connect I get the same message 'No System Found' , so I have to turn wifi and app off and then reconnect again, after 3 attempts it normally works . But I had no issues with the older app.Â
I have 4 x Symfonisk SONOS speakers and they cannot be connected at the same time no matter what, and also the connections keep dropping off. Simply rubbish products and rubbish app. So regretted I spent so much money on these. Now theyâre sitting there on the shelf doing nothing but a waste of my space.
After a spring and summer without reliable music from my $3500.00 array of Sonos speakers, the app has finally started to behave reasonably well. But I certainly will not buy another Sonos product, nor recommend Sonos to anyone, until the Sonos board has fired the current CEO, Patrick Spence. He clearly puts the installed base of over 15 million Sonos customers at the very bottom of his priorities. I led an application development team for 12 years: no respectable app team would release an âupdateâ so full of disaster as this one is. No respectable app team would fail to test it extensively with a broad mix of users and product configurations. The Sonos developers apparently protested that the app was not ready. But Patrick Spence insisted on releasing it. He must go. Adding insult to injury, Sonos sent a notice out a few weeks ago announcing ânew featuresâ in a recent update. These include an ability to edit the queue, a much used feature that was stripped out of the infamous update. Other former features were also lauded as ânewâ additions. They were presented as new features that we should be grateful to have. Thatâs disgraceful PR spin, and an insult to our intelligence.  Itâs more confirmation that Patrick Spence and his executive team hold the Sonos installed base in contempt.Â

It's hard to fathom how bad this app is. Nothing works as it should, my speaker is found for about 5 mins per hour, content isnt loaded, etc etc etcÂ
If you tried to make it this bad I think you would struggle. Feel held to ransom by Sonos, its not a pleasant feeling. So poor.
The new Sonos app is totally rubbish! Donât Sonos test these things out before releasing them to their customers?Â
Â
Can we have the old app back please?
Does anyone know when the broken app will be fixed and fully functional? I havenât been able to use my Sonos system since May. Itâs insane that Sonos WILL NOT release itâs prior app version for iPhone users so we can actually use our systemsâwhich many of us paid hundreds or thousands of dollars for.Â
NOT ONLY did Sonos approve the release of a broken app so that their customers can no longer us the expensive systems they paid for (a form of malpractice)âSonos also told their tech support reps to LIE about it. It took 4 separate phone calls with tech support (1-2+ hours each), for one of them to finally admit the app is dysfunctional.
Obviously, I will never buy or recommend Sonos again. Thatâs a gimme. BUT I should be able to use the system I paid for.Â
Where is the fixed app? Where are the announcements for customers with updates on the situation? Where is the compensation?
Donât be greedy, Sonos. It will bite you in the _______ in the long run.
Everyone struggling clearly, I canât control anything with app. Renders it useless.
Â
so the question is are they going to bring old one back while they work on new one or try to work out bugs? Any word from Sonos or tech support at all?
The new app is total rubbish. Iâm so disappointed in every way. Sonos fix it now !Â
This is very bad news for Sonos
how can you put something out that isnât working.
I have had clients calling all weekend with issues.
If it is this bad let us go back to the old app
till you fix this one.
Music constantly cutting in and out.
no controls of volume every time you change it, it resets itself.Â
If you try a different music station it shuts offÂ
has a delay like the app is trying to catch up.

Â
Iâve just noticed Sonos message on the web about the app.Â
Seems that they are working on it. I hope they will learn from this c@ck up and test the app before releasing any future updates.Â
https://support.sonos.com/en-gb/article/the-new-sonos-app-and-future-feature-updates
I hope so too but the message has been there 10 day and no progress. The new app is sooo far off the mark that they could at least allow customers to use the old one until they have something better. Many people have suggested this with no response. Indeed complete radio silence except for trying to sell new speaker. I wonder if everyone except the sales team had gone on holiday.
Fully agree, I have the exacts same (full list of) problems.
Agreed - it seems to have a complete mind of its own. Says itâs playing something on one speaker but itâs not, canât get to the other grouped speakers with what is actually playing. Canât seem to get any control of what is and what is not playing, adjust volumesÂ
Been on Sonos from very early days, loved it but this new version of the app, with all it promised, is awful. If I canât control my music, which speaker is playing (out of over 10 speakers) and what the volume is, whatâs the point of Sonos.Â
please fix asap
100%! I have 15 units. Try play on all - there are speakers dropping out, then rejoining, then dropping out again? Itâs not useable at all! Let alone trying to play favourites or trying to alter the volume of individual units? Maybe a child designed this update???? It cannot have been a professional developer surely?

I agree, it is a disaster, nothing works :-(
Anyway, rantâs over.. bottom line, if this doesnât get fixed soon I âll be looking at an alternative setup/system.
Â
I started this particular process weeks ago. I looked at BlueSound, I tried Roon.. was pretty decent, and was able to use my existing Sonos setup, but the monthly fee was a bit of a letdown. I eventually settled on using WiiM. Itâs players hook up to powered/unpowered speakers or audio components, and all become Google/Alexa capable. Since Iâve got a good Google ecosystem going in our house, it only made sense to extend our audio system in this direction. Iâve now completely replaced my entire Sonos environment, and couldnât be happier⊠an app that actually works, and is able to play local music from my library or stream from my favorite music services, an app that comes up and identifies all my devices right away⊠timers and alarms actually functional. Go figure!
Â
Sonos? Where are you? Are you addressing those issues? Did I miss a statement or are you really hiding
? I cannot use my system anymore with this app. It does not load, it crashes, it doesnât show playlists, it stops playing in the middle of a song
this is terrible
Â
This is the same thing my Sonos app would do most of the time. If it wasnât lagging terribly after starting, it would just sit on this âloadingâ screen. The other half of the time, my devices would appear/disappear randomly⊠and my local music library would blink in and out. Frustrating that when you wanted to control the volume and the device wasnât present in the app, that the only recourse would be to make the trek to the speaker to manually change it. I did find that the Windows Controller software was much more stable. It could see all speakers, control what music gets streamed, had zero issues finding my local library share (yes, on SMBv2/3), and control volume. Itâs a real shame they decided to go this âcourageousâ route. I just have a different name for it.
I am in Sonos hell with the âupdateâ in place. Connectivity problems. No ability to queue . Unreliable. Glitchy. Keep losing one of my speakers. Itâs embarrassing when I have customers and the vibe dies because Sonos assassinated it. Selling my speakers if anyone will have them. Need a new audio solution.Â
Experiencing a lot of the issues listed here after the âUpdateâ
I used to get joy from my Sonos system now its only frustration and regret.
It's the middle of June, and the new app is still a nightmare. It only connects intermittently, changing rooms is haphazard, and even controlling the volume is an adventure. More than half the time I try to play music, I get a âsomething went wrongâ message. I have 10 Sonos speakers - a significant investment of cash and time - and Iâd gladly get rid of them all for an alternative platform that works. It's what Ill need to do if Sonos can't get its * together. I need to start looking at Sonos alternatives now. Any suggestions?

I may add that we have digitized hundreds of thousands of songs from records and CDs in an iTunes library on our Mac, which we now cannot access anymore, never mind being able to steer it from a mobile.
Â
Hundreds of thousands? The local library limit is 65K, so you couldnât access all of them before either. The post had me up till then (though the âfinancierâ part was a bit of a stretch). Nice try, though!
He may be stretching the truth, but has some very valid points. This app is just horribly frustrating. They really need to listen to their customers and revert or give the option to use either app as they did in S1 S2 launch. They arenât too big to fail with this big a screw up. App is real good mood riuner. See that, so frustrating I made up a new wordâŠ.
Â
What are Sonos doing about thisâŠcompletely ruined a perfectly good systemÂ
This application âupdateâ has stripped much of the value out of the app and, as a result, much of the value out of the hardware we have spent much money acquiring. The hardware has no value without the app and the app is much degraded. It is a remarkably incompetent piece of work totally untethered from user value. Putting aside the top-heavy design that makes it very, very slow to load on Android, even when it works it has little value compared to the âoldâ version. My advice to Sonos: Never leave your application developers alone, unattended by adults -- they will inevitably want to change something, maybe everything, just because they can.
I rarely post. Agree with all that has been said. I will add that I think I speak for every one of your customers when I say that we donât care about how pretty the UI is for Sonos. We just need to find the speakers, find the music, turn it up, turn it down. Just like we had before. We need Swiss Army knife design.Â
I had a random incoming call from my boss on Zoom today. I jumped on the Sonos app to turn down the music but the app was listing the wrong room. I couldnât turn it down.
Â
We all know the old app wasnât perfect, but it could at least be available to turn down the music 99% of the time. Today, I had to unplug the speaker from the wall and then call my boss back.
i had the same...I had to take a call in the street because i couldn't turn off Sonos...ridiculous!!
New app is non workable - what good are all these speakers we have all invested in if the controller is useless? This bonehead move by this (formerly?) great company is so disappointing. They have let down so many of us a loyal customers. Can barely get the thing to play, so life is pretty crappy at the moment. Hope it gets resolved soon - we need our music back!
