The new Sonas app is awful. It typically will not connect to music even when the music is playing, hence I cannot switch the music of,
but worst problem is trying to control the volumes of the various sonas speakers. Even when I adjust the volume in the app it mysteriously changes itself back to the other setting.
trying to adjust volumes is almost impossible and VERY VERY frustrating.
fthis app should not have been released in such a dismal and poor state. It really damages Sonas reputation and brand.
when will these problems be fixed..?

The new App is beyond frustrating. You are testing a sub standard program on your customers. Roll it back to the old version or at least give people the option. There is no way I would ever believe this App passed your testing before you released it on your customers. Very disappointed in Sonos.
My Sonos for the past dozen years: AWESOME, LOVE IT, WORKS PERFECT EVERY TIME.
My Sonos since the ‘app’ came out:
Sometimes starts. Sometimes does not start.
About 80% of the time says my ‘System is not Found’.
Volume sometimes works, most of the time lags about 3-4 seconds which makes it difficult/basically impossible to set a volume correctly.
Sometimes selects various speakers and groups without me doing anything.
Sometimes is impossible to de-select speakers - and/or lags so long in doing so it screws you all up.
Worst part of all of this and why it is obvious this is totally screwed up on Sonos end is the randomness of it all!!! In a nutshell, my AWSOME, PERFECT $10,000 SYSTEM now officially S-U-C-K-S.
When is this going to be remedied?????????
Hi all,
Sadly I have seeked this forum as I cannot use my Sonos effectively anymore..
i have 4 speakers and eager to add some new designs.. that maybe that a was eager now… their market leading edge is under question..,
however I agree with all the comments here, the difference with the last app is night and day..,
before I breezed through the app, managed different rooms, combined, separated, super responsive and effortless,
now I can’t even change rooms to search for different music upstairs without transferring the music downstairs to the one upstairs, I can’t work it out,
once I put music on in one room on my phone , have to use Alexa to get music on the other one… embarrassing.., trying to Combine speakers is borderline pointless… keeps rejecting the request..,
volume can be a huge delay and i hate this app, which is a million miles away from how I felt just a few weeks ago…
Sonos was famed for its ease of use and app.. maybe not for much longer…
My wife and I have been battling with the new App for a month now. We agree with all the comments on here! It is driving us mad. Please, please can we go back to the old App while the new one is fixed. We have always loved our Sonos products but have to seriously consider what else to get if we can’t control any of our speakers!! can’t’ change the music, can’t start/stop the music, can’t adjust the volume, can’t search for music, can’t listen to any music!!!!!!!!!!!?Please help!!!!!!
When will these problems be fixed..?
Well the food thing is that it is only the app, not their server. I could barely put a radio on, I have reverted to the previous version and all works good.
If you are on android, I strongly suggest it. It sounds a bit technical but really is not
New Sonos app totally unresponsive. Volume control is slow & randomly jumping up & down. For a high end system this is pretty poor. Turned my system off last night only to find it playing this morning. Looks like it’s been playing all night.
Come on Sonos, with all the issues & complaints flooding in since the latest update there has been no response from you. Reading the blogs on here I sense it won’t be long before Sonos fans will be moving to other services.
Sonos— “SORT IT OUT"
I have come here to add to this thread.
What SONOS have done here is disgraceful. A fully working system turned into trash with one update. I cannot access any devices since this update, and nothing works. A JOKE.
Hi All,
I'm afraid I can't add anything other than my voice. My experience since the new app "appeared" (I don't recall chosing an upgrade) has been terrible.
I think I have experienced all the problems already listed. I'm most disappointed by my complete inability to find the Port and linked turntable.
The absolute last thing I need when I listen to music is stress. The new app creates that at every step, whether that is listening to the radio, connecting to Spotify, linking rooms, adjusting volume etc, etc.
I am so disappointed in Sonos. I have gone from someone who used to show off about how cool the system was to being embarrass because I can't change the bloody track.
I do hope that Sonos are listening. I am getting fed up trying to listen to anything anymore.
Here's hoping for a response and update.
Sonos,
what is going on with this new app? You have totally destroyed your products. When I attempt to use I encounter the following issues:
2- after picking a song it takes sometimes up to a minute for the song to play
3- volume control is absolutely horrendous. You change the volume and nothing happens! Then 45 seconds later it goes up or goes down. It’s even worse if you attempt to do it straight from Spotify!!!
how the hell could a company roll out an update so horrible and still after 4-5 months have done nothing to fix it!!!? I want answers- my whole house is Sonos. RESPOND
Basically, it appears that Sonos have introduced the new App without full testing. The Lab rats for this are current customers. It looks like this thread has now run for at least 28 days. Regardless how many times we update the App and Sonos system it remains not fit for purpose. It is quite telling that the previous App had little issues. A sorry state of affairs. If the new products coming to market rely on this then Sonos need to think of the business damage being done to their brand. The CEO and Board need to look at other Brands out there that did not step up and resolve issues and the overall damage done to their business models. Time for sitting on the fence to stop,
My frustration with the new app has been massive. However least until today we could use my partners app… the old version… because I ensured she didn't upgrade. Now our frustration is apocalyptic because her app upgraded itself without request or permission. WTF!
I hope so too but the message has been there 10 day and no progress. The new app is sooo far off the mark that they could at least allow customers to use the old one until they have something better. Many people have suggested this with no response. Indeed complete radio silence except for trying to sell new speaker. I wonder if everyone except the sales team had gone on holiday.
It is an old message from Sonos, I didn’t realise were in June already! It is quite poor, think we all here agree. I feel sorry for Sonos and their reputation in their industry and equally wish I could punch them in the soft places and demand my money back for the speakers. I only have three Sonos units, one of them stopped being recognisable since the update. Can’t imagine how infuriating it must be for those with large sound system or that need sound for their work.
Sonos? Where are you? Are you addressing those issues? Did I miss a statement or are you really hiding ? I cannot use my system anymore with this app. It does not load, it crashes, it doesn’t show playlists, it stops playing in the middle of a song this is terrible
Experiencing a lot of the issues listed here after the “Update”
I used to get joy from my Sonos system now its only frustration and regret.
I'm going back to the old 'gold' app . The new 'black' one is useless . Every time I try to connect I get the same message 'No System Found' , so I have to turn wifi and app off and then reconnect again, after 3 attempts it normally works . But I had no issues with the older app.
I have given up and bought the IOS app Sonophone, just works !
Agreed - it seems to have a complete mind of its own. Says it’s playing something on one speaker but it’s not, can’t get to the other grouped speakers with what is actually playing. Can’t seem to get any control of what is and what is not playing, adjust volumes
Been on Sonos from very early days, loved it but this new version of the app, with all it promised, is awful. If I can’t control my music, which speaker is playing (out of over 10 speakers) and what the volume is, what’s the point of Sonos. please fix asap
100%! I have 15 units. Try play on all - there are speakers dropping out, then rejoining, then dropping out again? It’s not useable at all! Let alone trying to play favourites or trying to alter the volume of individual units? Maybe a child designed this update???? It cannot have been a professional developer surely?
Can sonos please fix the app and/or at least let people know what's going on? My partners phone auto updated the app and now she can’t access our sonos system, our music library or control our sonos devices. Has sonos been hacked or been the victim of cyber sabotage or something? What’s going on and how are sonos going to fix this situation? shouldnt sonos immediately roll back the app to a version that actually works?
I have 4 x Symfonisk SONOS speakers and they cannot be connected at the same time no matter what, and also the connections keep dropping off. Simply rubbish products and rubbish app. So regretted I spent so much money on these. Now they’re sitting there on the shelf doing nothing but a waste of my space.
I am in Sonos hell with the “update” in place. Connectivity problems. No ability to queue . Unreliable. Glitchy. Keep losing one of my speakers. It’s embarrassing when I have customers and the vibe dies because Sonos assassinated it. Selling my speakers if anyone will have them. Need a new audio solution.
Agree with all the above. What are Sonos doing?. They have issued an app totally unfit for purpose. Please fix it quickly. We buy expensive products - the update means they are becoming unusable . Their quality control should have picked up how terrible this update was before they released it. Extremely disappointing.
The new Sonas app is awful. It typically will not connect to music even when the music is playing, hence I cannot switch the music of,

fthis app should not have been released in such a dismal and poor state. It really damages Sonas reputation and brand.

It's hard to fathom how bad this app is. Nothing works as it should, my speaker is found for about 5 mins per hour, content isnt loaded, etc etc etc
If you tried to make it this bad I think you would struggle. Feel held to ransom by Sonos, its not a pleasant feeling. So poor.
App update is terrible, volume control on the 18 components is what I (and imagine most of your users) want, and then just play nice with the music source (spotify is my main). Trying to be the music source and the hardware is not going well. Worried about how much i have invested in the system if this is the app you are satisfied with and the direction you are heading, may need to consider other passive sound systems in the future. The hardware is top notch, this app update is crap please recall and fix. Using your users as test subjects us annoying, work the bugs out before sharing, this is crap.
After a spring and summer without reliable music from my $3500.00 array of Sonos speakers, the app has finally started to behave reasonably well. But I certainly will not buy another Sonos product, nor recommend Sonos to anyone, until the Sonos board has fired the current CEO, Patrick Spence. He clearly puts the installed base of over 15 million Sonos customers at the very bottom of his priorities. I led an application development team for 12 years: no respectable app team would release an “update” so full of disaster as this one is. No respectable app team would fail to test it extensively with a broad mix of users and product configurations. The Sonos developers apparently protested that the app was not ready. But Patrick Spence insisted on releasing it. He must go. Adding insult to injury, Sonos sent a notice out a few weeks ago announcing “new features” in a recent update. These include an ability to edit the queue, a much used feature that was stripped out of the infamous update. Other former features were also lauded as “new” additions. They were presented as new features that we should be grateful to have. That’s disgraceful PR spin, and an insult to our intelligence. It’s more confirmation that Patrick Spence and his executive team hold the Sonos installed base in contempt.
Please go back to the previous version. This new app is junk.
