Google Play Music -> YT Music

Hi,

Google announced that it will discontinue Play Music, and all the music can be migrated to Youtube Music. I just did the migration but now I can’t access my music via Sonos anymore. I added Youtube Music as a new service, but when I click on the service it says I can’t use it without getting a premium subscription. I don’t want a subscription, I just want to listen to my albums I bought from Google Music over a long period of time.

When will you update the YT Music integration to allow us to listen to the music we bought?

Thanks,

fame

The services themselves are responsible for their content provided on the Sonos platform. Running a music service and maintaining the infrastructure is costly, as a result Google may have decided to go the ‘No exception to subscription’ route with YT Music.

Google Play Music was the reason I bought into Sonos, running two units the past few years, and while Google Play does have its issues it was free.

Now this is dropping I have not found a music upload site I like enough to pay for and currently will probably just run from a NAS. That covers home use but Google Play has left a big hole in my music access for me.

I filled in the survey, with their interest in user data I would have thought they would want as many users to be using the service even the free users like on Google Play. I wonder how many will drop it now?

@fame, It’s on Google to allow free access, Sonos has nothing do to with it.

@Smilja So you are saying Google is blocking the API for users that do not have a subscription? Because for Google Play Music this was not the case, I could listen to my music without having a subscription. Wonder if this is really different with YT Music from Google side of the integration?
