Sonos cannot connect to my mac. I have followed all the instructions and very frustrated as I have spent a lot of money on an Audio consultant and the hardware ... and am still playing music on my phone when we have guests! please help!
@RT than you for this - this solved my problem too.  Finally I have Sonos working on my iMac.  I have to ask: why on earth have Sonos implemented the Mac client in such a complicated way?  The music is on the disk drive on same Mac that the Sonos client is running on - why on earth doesn't it just read it - why do we need to bring in dodgy Windows technology (SMB) to share a drive - there has to be a simpler way.
Can you please follow the directions on this guided assistance FAQ to get that music library up and running? It sounds like you've already done most of those directions, but we'd like to recreate the error messages on the players for the next step. If you're still having trouble, can you please submit a diagnostic and reply back with your confirmation number?

Thanks.
Somehow, got it to work. Created a library file equal to I tunes files, so let's see how long it lasts. Naming of files, which should not be an issue, is, sharing, intuitive that it would need to be set up properly, and both Norton as well as Apple firewalls need to be proper. And then messed around for a good 12 hours. Voila...
I've encountered the same issue. Without any systems changes, the Sonos app could not find the server. The solution, thanks to one of the earlier replies, is to check file sharing settings. I'm using an iMac with OS X 10.10.5 Go into System preferences/sharing/options and select the account (i.e. tick the box along side your name, then tick the boxes above for SMB and AFP. That resolved the problem and reloaded the full music library.

Why it happened in the first place is a mystery. I hope this is useful to other experiencing this issue.
Thank you Ryan for your reply. I have actually now managed to remove and re add my music library , but had to do it from my desktop Sonos app, and not from my I Phone app. (That doesn't work!)

Deleting the old library and letting Sonos find the new library name seems to do the trick !!

Thanks for getting back .

Jon

I managed to do this by going into sharing settings and ticking the SMB option and clearing the AFP option.
..I should also say that everything was great until the Yosemite upgrade . No problems with 18,000 tracks . So please.........no technical stuff about file types, codecs, blah blah. There are too many people on many forums, complaining about the same subject.
I cannot now either update my I Tunes library, or even play music from it now !  Would someone from Sonos, admit there is a problem . Is it something to do with the Yosemite upgrade , or is it a Sonos problem . When i try to play music it is saying 'the server can't be found'.  When i try to update the library on Sonos, it says' I Tunes no longer available.' Can someone PLEASE help us . I spent a lot of money on my Sonos system..basically it is now a radio player !!
You posted on this thread just to have a moan didn't you? You can't have wanted any help because you haven't actually told us a) Your setup and b) What problem(s) and if you are getting any error messages nor have you posted a diagnostic.
The entire Manage menu is greyed out. I can't select any of the options and I'd like to sync my music library. How do I deal with this?

Hi finrstmachineage,

Normally when vital options such as this are greyed out it would indicate a Software update is required or the controller device is running only a partially supported OS version.

Can you confirm your system is Fully Up to Date and you're running a fully supported OS version.

Having same issue, have changed to El Capitan operating system, have deleted, upgraded, added, till im blue in the face.

This is the most frustrating thing I have ever faced in the IT world. I cannot believe that some thing which is so basic to the underlying value propostion of the product could be so difficult. I still cannot get it to work.

I do not have enough time in the day to deal with this.

You should not have a beta product for prime time distribution.
Yes, will do tomorrow thanks.
I don't have a Mac so I can't really advise more. I would strongly suggest you call Sonos support. I know you are time poor but they are pretty good and I think there is a high chance they will be able to resolve your issue.
Computer name changed in both places, reboot. Same issue.
All firewalls have been changed.
Well, venting helps a bit, miso yes.

Was hoping there would be someone who would present an easy solution

It's an apple I Mac, El Capitan latest operating system.

In Europe, Switzerland, a main unit and a bridge.

Have Sonos on I pad, sorta works, but seems to view files differently than i Mac.

The problem is the same as I see with quite a few posts.

When configuring music file, select the "where I tunes is located" option, which makes she's cause that's where it is, I can select the file, so it obviously sees it, but when select it it, message" cannot find your computer"

So can not use the iTunes music. There was apparently a way to select some files on the iPad, cause was able to get some of music, added to queu, not to a music list,

Again, for a system which is billed as plying well with Apple, this is just not right. Expect a simple solution or some patchwork. But cmon. Yea, quite unhappy. Sonos may have a segment of technology sets who like to tinker with the system, but I'm not one of those, so pretty upset.

I'm not a Mac user so can't be specifically helpful. But it would help if you would explain exactly what issue you are having - Any error messages? Missing menu options? You can connect music folder but it won't play.

You can be certain the currently released software is most assuredly NOT "Beta" and there is not a widespread problem with people not being able to connect to their Mac Itunes libraries - it is to be expected that those who do have issues will post in this forum and those who don't have a problem don't post.
Technology which makes our life better is good. If it sucks up out time and adds nothing, then it ceases to have value.

There are a number of other products out there. This one does not seem ready for prime time.
Give up, there's the spirit!
Could this be a netbios (computer) naming convention issue ... see this link:

Yes, have been engaged in this for around 6 hours.

may call help desk tomorrow, or may just wrap up product and throw out. Really do not have time to play around with this.

Have you read the preceding posts in this thread?
My system is fully up to date and I have the same issue in accessing music from my Seagate PersonalCloud server. I can see the files, but Sonos generates a message indicating that it cannot add songs to the queue. I submitted diagnostics for reference...6664805.
Can you please try changing the cable, Todd? It seems your system is struggling to actually access the files.
I am having the same issue. I noticed this after upgrading to iOS 10.12 but I somehow fixed it. Now there was a new update to iOS 10.12.1 and it stopped working again. i submitted a diagnostic -- 6683631
