The following troubleshooting is for any Mac running OS X. This includes the iMac, Mac Pro, Mac Mini, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air. To share with other computers, simply turn on the service you want to use in Sharing preference (in System Preferences), then use the matching client software to connect to your Mac from the other computer. In the case of Sonos, we would want to use Windows File Sharing or SMB. To share your music library with Sonos, we will first need to enable file sharing and Windows File Sharing (SMB). You can do so by following the steps below:

Select Apple logo -> System Preferences -> Sharing.
Make sure to put a check mark for File Sharing so that it is enabled.
Click on File Sharing so it is highlighted and click on Options on the right.
Make sure to enable Share Files and Folders usin
When I try and add tracks to a playlist I get the following message: No playlists have been added to your Sonos playlists yet. The playlists do show up momentarily but are then replaced by the error message - it is really quite annoying and hope that it can be resolved quickly. Many thanks
I have a Playbar and Sub and am very happy with them. I thought of buying a Play 1 to have on my bedside table to effectively replace my clock radio. However, there is no clock or workable alarm, snooze or volume control post alarm with the current Sonos set up. My idea is to include within the Sonos App the ability to have a digital clock displayed when chosen that can stay open when the iPhone is on a dock so this can be displayed overnight. There are various alarm clock Apps on the market that offer this. When the alarm goes off there could be a snooze and volume control on the screen of the open Sonos App that could be easily accessed by the user. This would then allow the user to have a fully functional alarm clock solution using the Sonos App and speaker/s. Thoughts??
Sonos controller doesn't work on Windows 7 Professional on Parallels Desktop 9 running from a bootcamp installation on a 2012 MacBook Air with OSX 10.9. Sonos controller runs fine in OSX or in plain bootcamp boot-up of Windows on this same machine. Is the Sonos controller incompatible with Parallels? I am guessing this is a port or firewall issue and I am not expert in those areas.
Amazon has a virtual playlist which is "Recently Added" that allows you to easily listen to your newest music. It would be nice for us to have the same sort of thing with our local music library so that I could easily grab the latest podcasts, newest songs, latest audiobook, etc into my queue.
How do I play audio (e.g. soundtracks for movies and TV in iTunes) or stream internet content (e.g. netflx or iPlayer) from my iMac through my Sonos system? I've tried a phono lead out from the headphone socket on the Mac into a Sonos bridge "line in", but the sound was poor and very quiet. My music library is on my iMac, and that works fine.
According to the FAQ at https://sonos.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1589/related/1, it sounds like you can set up your wireless devices (laptop, tablet, etc.) to use SonosNet as a wireless mesh for the home. Is that correct? I thought SonosNet was proprietary and could only be used by Sonos components. Allowing SonosNet to be used by non-Sonos devices is a VERY value-added feature. This means that having a Play:1 in your distant room, for example, would give Wifi access to the network/internet to mobile devices in that room (via SonosNet). I see a VERY good benefit for having additional Sonos components (including Sonos Bridge) in that regard. Saves you from buying Wifi Repeaters to extend the wireless range for tablets & computers in your house. Did I read the FAQ correctly? I hope so :)
I have lost all my playlists by resetting my controller. Is there any way of finding these as a lot were spotify?
My Sonos app could not find the bridge or the Play 3 so I had to reset and when I added them again, all my music was gone. For the last 6 months I had been creating Sonos Playlists based on Spotify? Please help
I have a Play:5 in the kitchen, a Play:1 in the office and the 5.1 setup in the living room (Playbar, Sub and Play:3 satellites). I like to start the day playing radio at a specific volume on all zones, and depending on what I did the day before, I need to manually group zones and adjust volume for all zones, which is quite cumbersome. It would be great to save a preset that does this automatically and even starts playing the radio station I want, or playlist, or artist etc. It could also just be a preset that just adjust volume for some/all zones without affecting currently playing music. Or it could be stopping music on all zones that might not be grouped. On Android there's a 3rd party app called Macronos that enables something similar to what I want, but we need to have it better and on all controllers.
When I'm not using the Sonos, i.e. it is not playing music from any source, the Sonos will start playing the sound from the computer, Mac Mini, whenever I start playing a YouTube video or start a song in iTunes. When this happens I have not done anything to start up Sonos! This seems to happen anytime there is a period of silence and then the sound starts. It is a problem as there are times that I just want the sound local to the computer and not go over Sonos.
A Sonos user would like to have the Radio station icons diplayed when saved in the My Radio Station Icons. Hi Let's say i'm having a party, and my Sonos is playing the music. Many of my guests are friends that earlier has gotten access to my WiFi. During the party, these guests could download Sonos Controller/app, connect to Sonos, and start controlling the music. There is no way in Sonos controllers to set a password, to avoid this behaviour. Other workarounds would be setting up a guest WiFi network that doesn't have access to Sonos, but this would require a new router (in som cases), or change my original password in my entire existing network, which would be annoying ;) Are there any plans to add this feature? Maybe even a possibility to require a password for each Sonos device (tick box in controller preferences for each device?) Am i missing something, other than keeping my guests sober and not annoying :D
I currently have 2 Connect:Amp's both running two different sets of Bose Freespace 51 outdoor speakers. I have an "issue" with the volume. On the controllers (both android and ipad), the volume slider only produces sound from about the half-way point and beyond. Anytime I slide the volume control down below the half way point, I lose all volume. It's as if I have a scale of 1 - 10 and I can only use 6 thru 10. It is not a sharp drop off it literally diminishes from the highest level and goes down incrementally to about 6 and then there is no sound. According to the documentation, the speakers are "Rated at 50 watts IEC continuous power handling. Compatible with amplifiers or receivers rated from 10 to 100 watts per channel RMS and 4 to 8 ohms." Do I need to get a separate pre-amp and use a Connect instead of a Connect:Amp?
I would like to have options to configure how the cross-fade works. Ideally, there would be two settings for this. How many seconds from the end of the song to start the cross-fade and the length of time in seconds the cross-fade should take. For example, start the cross fade 20 seconds before the song ends and cross-fade for 9 seconds.
