I’ve just bought a sonos amp, 

i have a sonos boost already,

are these two elements compatible or one replace the other ?

Are you sure it is a Boost? The Boost is just a start for a Sonos network - it does not do anything for music. The Amp does do music, it plays it through (third party) speakers.
