Hi sonos and fellow users,
Can sonos introduce trueplay to the connect and connect amp models?

I doubt that is the reason. Any heard/measured feedback from any speaker can potentially be fed back to tweak the DSP in the Connect/Connect Amp that can already do EQ via DSP. This is how it is done in the many third party room response solutions out there that just feed a shaped signal to the downstream third party units that may be amps and speakers, based on what they hear from third party speakers.
The question is whether the processors in those Sonos units have that capability. And/or the perceived market interest/size for this effort.

They have no control of the output speakers on these two devices. The reason trueplay works on there play units is because they have direct control of the amp powering each individual driver in every speaker.
They have no direct control of drivers in speakers when you have thrid party speakers attached via connect and amp. So no truplay can happen with these units.

If they decide to and if the hardware has the capability of accommodating the DSP algorithms; but I don't see this happening. Both are legacy models in the present form.
