Hello allExcuse me if I don’t have all the terms correct, but I’m not very techie! I’ve searched this forum, but can’t find an answer that helps meI have a small system (2x Play 1 and a Play 5 (1st Gen)) and use S1 controller all connected to wifi. Recently the Play 5 has been dropping out so I just bought a second hand bridge for £2 to see if I could use this to boost the signal for the Play 5.I’ve connected the bridge OK but I don’t know how/if I need to ‘move’ the Play 5 off wifi and onto the SonosNet to get the possible benefit. I presume that the 2 x Play 1’s will just stay on the wifi as they are not compatible with the bridge? I’m assuming its possible to have all these products within one controller even if they are not on the ‘same’ wifi?I can’t even find any instructions for the bridge online - does it stay hardwired and sat near the router?Thanks in advance for any guidanceBrucie
Hi I REALLY miss the ability to mute a single zone! Why did you change this! So many times I want to mute just one for a moment without stopping the other grouped zones. This is really a downgrade for me. Any chance you can make this configurable, or somehow still allow the mute button to function as an actual mute button?
S1 controller unable to add linkstation NAS with error: Reason: The Computer "SONOSZP80_1TB" cannot be found
Hardware/Software: Windows 11 with all updates installed, S1 controller, Sonos ZP80, Buffalo Linkstation live 1TB NAS Network Profile Type: Private (VPN via high-speed Wi-Fi - No ethernet access to router) Connectivity: ZP80 connects to my VPN via Wi-Fi and the two ports from the ZP80 run ethernet cables to a desktop mini and NAS I was able to play music from my NAS, with the above connectivity till about Sept/Oct 2022, when a windows 11 update caused the NAS to disappear. This has now been fixed and I'm once again able to see my ancient 2010 Buffalo Linkstation Live (LS-CHL-V2 series) NAS. Advanced sharing settings and SMB settings under windows features have all been checked by Sonos and all look fine and I’ve also posted screen grabs below. When I try and add my NAS share in the S1 Controller I get the following error:S1 -> Manage tab -> Music Library Settings -> Add -> Networked device -> Browse and select NAS and share from Network tab -> OK -&g
Anyone care to share his/her experience? Sound quality, possible delays, anything worth while mentioning? Replacing my Arcam amplifier with the Connect should preferably not result in material, notable loss of sound quality. Because that will trigger disappointment and frustration. I have a number of clients that have installed Sonos in their bars/restaurants. A lot of them wanted us to recess an iPad into a wall (using Sonance mounts) and use the Rhapsody service exactly like a jukebox. The only issue is that the customers would constantly override the existing song by selecting "Play Now". Would you consider adding a "jukebox" setting that would only allow the user to "Add to Queue"? The "Play Now" feature is also an issue at my house when there is a party. Most people do not have the patience to listen to a song picked by another individual. I would love to be able to lock down this behaviour.
I am wanting to set a sonos sub up in a room where i have ceiling speaker connected to a sonos Amp. The Amp is in a closet where I have a “home run” setup. It seems the Sub is too far from the AMP to get a signal from it in the room, I can move it to a different room, closer to the Amp and it will work. Evidently the sub talks directly to whatever its paired to and not separately like other sonos speakers. Is there any way to get a better signal to the Sub? current setup is WM:1 thx
It seems to be well known that the Port suffers from a problem with the Variable Output sound quality.Has there been any firmware upgrades that fix this? What is the likelihood that this will be solved going forward?I am about to invest in a complete system for our new house. Right now, because of this issue, I am leaning towards a Bluesound solution. But like the Arc more than the Soundbar 2i, so would like to use Sonos. But need the Port for interface with a high-end audio system and cannot compromise on the sound quality.
So far it is only possible to use SONOS and Apple Airplay when connecting a SONOS Connect or Play:5 with an additional Apple device supporting AirPlay (e.g. Airport Express). Therefore, the idea is to develop a SONOS Bridge which has integrated support for Apple AirPlay without additional hardware. Benefits would be in this case that - no additional hardware and cabeling is necessary to use AirPlay in the SONOS system - one could easily allow guests to quickly output their audio to the SONOS system - all iOS devices would be supported as a sources without further software - with an appropriate AirPlay software on PC / Mac one could even send audio from there into the Sonos audio system The Sonos controller could then represent this "AirPlay input" as a new audio source within the complete SONOS system.
So, I spent an hour and 40m on Saturday morning on the phone to Sonos customer service and nothing was resolved before he hung up on me. I have just about calmed down 48 hours later but and extremely unhappy with this. I wonder if this is an easier and less unpleasant way to try to fix my system. I have had Sonos for 8 years now, have 4 old ZP100s, 2 ZP80s, 4 Play 1s and 1 Play 5. One of my ZP100s is wired into my router. I did have 2 bridges as well but the only thing that the hour and 40m did do on Saturday was remove these from my system as they seemed to be causing problems. However, my system is still dropping music (and not only music off the internet but music stored locally) and zones. I have had virtually no trouble until 4 or 5 months ago when my system has basically not been working at all. The one sensible thing the rude Sonos customer service man did tell me was that I may have an issue because the wireless signal in my house is distributed via a Powerline system of 4 plug
Please flesh out the options to share a sub between two 'rooms'. I'm in the same boat as many users here and would like to share a sub, in my case, a large living room, playing music on two Play:5's as a stereo set, and a 5.1 surround with a Playbar and two play ones. The only option to share a sub between the setups is to 'unbond' the speakers, but then you lose the TruPlay saved settings and to recalibrate each time is not practical. Having the option to save the TruPlay profiles created would be amazing. I'm also taking advantage of AirPlay 2 for music which is not supported with a surround setup, hence why I have a second set just for music in the same room. Sharing a sub between two 'rooms' is perhaps an option for a future software update?
Once again Sonos chooses to punish its customer base. When S3 is released, be prepared to have to scrap your existing stuff and give Sonos loads more of your cash. If I were an investor in Sonos, I'd sell my stock right now.I've just bought Roam. Big mistake. It messes up my current system, a mixture of S1 and S2 components. I don't know if I can get Roam working or will have to return it.
I bought a Sonos Amp, really should’ve bought a Port for what my intended setup. I am not even sure what I can use the Amp for since there is no audio out. Probably going to just have to sell it. Right now I have a connect for my in celling speakers, I guess I could use the amp for a couple of those.
Hi Sonos team,This has been requested before, but after extensive reading in the fora I could not find a solution or an answer from Sonos about prioritisation of this issue.Can you please provide an option to disable audio-delay (latency) when a line-in device is used on a single Sonos speaker setup?In an older conversation all kind of ideas were proposed by the community. There were a couple of things people agreed on:Many people are bothered that a minimal 75 ms latency is enforced. And they would be very happy if Sonos could give an option to disable the 70ms latency. Two use-cases where people encounter the latency-problem: Creative music production (keyboard, dj-mixer) Audio video where the Sonos is used for audio and a laptop/television as screen (for movie watching or video calls). In a setup with 1 Sonos speaker and a line-in device as audio-source, the 70ms latency seems artificial and not dictated by technical limitations (i.e. buffering with multiple wireless Sonos speaker
Boy, would I sure like Sonos capable headphones! Sure, I could setup a Connect and a headphone amp or some wireless headphone set, but I'd like to wear them around the house in a range no wireless or cable would reach. It can't be that tough to build a set of wireless SONOS headphones.
Apologize if this has been asked. Searched the forum and couldn’t find an answer.I have 2 Onkyo receivers in my setup and am having the same issue with both. Currently have a TX NR686 and TX NR585. The 686 is connected to a 3rd Gen Sonos connect and the 585 is connected to a brand new Sonos port. Neither the connect nor the port can be found via the onkyo setup/works with Sonos search. I get the same time out on both and a resulting connect cannot be found message.I have tried rebooting the router, updating firmware, rebooting receivers and removing and reinstalling both Sonos components in the system. Nothing has made a difference.My assumption is that the problem is in my network setup. I have not been able to get to a solution using onkyo tech support. So I’m trying here. My wifi is a eero mesh system. I’m far from a network expert so looking for advice on things to try. any help is appreciated.
I have recently added to my sonos system, but the 2 newest play 2's sound different to the one existing play 1 I had, ie. the older one seems to have a more rounded "Bassier" sound than the 2 newer ones, do they "run in over time" or has the design changed ? all settings have been reset to default etc.... any help/advice appreciated
I have ready various posts about compressed/uncompressed usage of the Sonus and I think I have a different problem. The issue that I have is that I have a Connect (not Connect Amp) attached to my Sonus system (through LAN cable into Wi-Fi router) to feed an external music source into Sonus (happens to be Airplay) and the sound is out of sync as the local speakers connected to the Connect fire first and then the rest of the Sonus speakers are delayed a slight bit resulting in an out of sync sound system. I have tried compressed/uncompressed and the issue that I am having is not the normal sync issue that most post about. What I would like is some way to delay the local audio out in the Connect itself so that it can sync up with the inherent delay in the Sonus network. My sense is that the line in on the Connect is immediately feeding into the amplifier on the output audio ports -- much faster path than the rest of the meshed network. I am using Digital Coax output on the connect
