Question

What Is This PCB Component? Causing Whisting/Buzzing (Sonos Play 5 Gen 1 Speaker)

I have a Sonos Play 5 Gen 1 Speaker and everything is working on it perfectly except that it makes this constant whistling / buzzing sound whenever the power supply is plugged in.

Dug into it and isolated the component making the noise. I am not experienced with electronics but would like to know:

  • What is this part?
  • Is it possible for me to fix it myself within reason?
  • What do you think is a fair price to have someone else repair it?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Looks like a transformer to me. To replace it you would need to find a new one (search for that part number), de-solder the old one and re-solder the new one.

If you search this very forum for that part number you will find other threads on the subject.
