Using a PORT to Connect to wired home theater system using an Onkyo txnr 686 receiver

I currently own  several SONOs products (Soundbar, sub, 2 play 3’s, 2 play 1’s, a Boost and a Connect).

I use the connect for my 2 pairs of outdoor patio speakers, 2 garage speakers, and a shower/sauna speaker.  I also have the TV on the patio going LINE IN to the Connect.

I am building a detached garage and I plan to create a 7.1 home theater system using an onkyo txnr 686 as the receiver.  I plan to use ZONE 2 for my outdoor speakers and I would like my outdoor TV to also play from my outdoor speakers.  Is there a SONO product that will do this and if so please provide instructions on the connections that need to be made.  I would like to have all of my wired speakers as part of the sonos system but the priority are the zone 2 speakers.  THanks

Rowena, my onkyo is not on this list but I am not as concerned about volume control as just getting my NEW wired speakers (ONKYO TXNR 686) working with SONOS as I already do with my patio speakers (connected to a much older ONKYO via a an old CONNECT) on my current patio.  What if any SONOS product do I need to purchase to utilize my ZONE 2 outdoor speakers with my current SONOS system?  Thanks

Sonos Port is the upgraded version of the Sonos Connect that you can connect to your traditional stereo to stream music and more. Enjoy control with the Sonos app or Apple AirPlay 2, and easily expand your sound system to more room. With Sonos Amp, it works with traditional 8-ohm bookshelf speakers as well as pairs of 6 or 4-ohm speakers that you can connect like your outdoor speakers. Is there a way to check to see if my Yamaha receiver RX-V793 will work with Port? I would like to purchase the Post for my old school system. I also have a Yamaha turntable, Denton cassette player and several CD players. Thank you.

To connect your Yamaha receiver and turntable with the Sonos Port, they should come with built-in a preamp to amplify the signals otherwise, you will be needing an amplifier to connect to the Sonos Port. On the other hand, the Sonos Amp is a versatile amplifier that you can connect everything from your receiver, turntable, and stereo to your wired speakers to enjoy vinyl, CDs, stored audio files, and streaming. You can even power outdoor speakers and expand your Sonos system.
