Turntable To sonos 5

Obviously not an expert on this but struggling with setting up my turntable

I bought a project essential III as recommended on sonos site, and having a sonos 1 and two 3’s I also invested in a sonos 5 having been told that I could connect directly without a connect

However I can’t get any sound when I connect directly and now a bit of googling seems to suggest I might need a preamp as well? All help gratefully received as this is proving quite a painful and expensive way of playing my old vinyls !

Thanks in advance !

The standard Essential III needs a pre-amp.

You need the Essential III Bluetooth or Essential III Phono

Or get a pre-amp

audio-technica also makes a line of built in pre-amp turntable that are popular.
That's unfortunate. Sonos own website advertises that a preamp is included. That's why i bought this setup.

If you look at the specs for that Vinyl Pro Set, the turntable is the Essentials III Phono model. The Essentials III is different in that it lacks the phono preamp.
