Question

Single Sonos Amp connected to a TV with 4 speakers

I’m building a patio with 4 in-ceiling passive speakers as well as a TV. The setup I’m thinking of doing is driving those 4 speakers with the Sonos Amp for music the majority of the time but having the TV plugged in via HDMI arc and having the sound from the TV through the 4 at other times.

The speakers and placement are simply for sound coverage and I have no concerns around specific channels of sound (i.e. a specific left and right channel).

I’d really like to not have to purchase a 2nd amp if possible. Would this setup work for a 4 speaker setup with all 4 speakers acting as the front speakers for the tv?

Hi @Petri33, thank you for reaching us out and welcome to the Sonos Community. I appreciate you for providing us your concern. Let me help you with this.

Appreciate your interest in Sonos products too. The Sonos Amp works with traditional 8-ohm bookshelf speakers as well as pairs of 6 or 4-ohm speakers that you can connect via the banana plugs.

Yes, adding 4 speakers with the Amp provided it will meet the recommended setup. You can check out this article about connecting four speakers to your Sonos Amp to guide you through.

You can connect The Sonos Amp to your TV via HDMI cable. An Amp supports Trueplay when using Sonos In-wall or In-Ceiling by Sonance Architectural speakers. It is not available for the Sonos Outdoor by Sonance Architectural speakers.

We can wait for suggestions and feedback from our Sonos community members, they might provide their own opinion about this. You may also contact our Sales specialist for more information.

Hope this helps.
